boot sensor

Featured Replies

I drive an 09 fiesta and as the title says, the “boot open” sensor keeps showing up even though my boot is not. i was wondering if there were any easy fixes (im not particularly mechanically inclined) or should i take it to the garage?

The sensor is in the boot latch on the tailgate.  It's fairly straightforward to change the latch, but you do need a few tools and a bit of experience so your choice whether to attempt it yourself or not.

On that evidence, a local independent garage sounds a good bet. If they allow you to stand around & watch whilst it's been done, even better as you can see what's involved and maybe give you confidence for a future job...

Hi Elliot,

I have a 2009 Fiesta that I got in September '21 a few weeks after I had this issue pop up, my auto-electrician neighbour checked it out but he said it would be a pain to access and not worth the cost to fix, he suggested that I turn off the warning sound through the radio settings and live with it. Although judging the previous replies I guess my neighbour couldn't be bothered or is rubbish at his job. I'm thinking it's the latter as he blamed my dashcam for draining my battery, even though I didn't have it the first several times it occured.
