Forscan won't work

Featured Replies

Hi all, just looking for advice really, I have previously used Forscan on my 2006 tdci mondeo and also my 2012 Mondy. No problems and worked great. I now have a Focus Zetec S 1.5 Tdci and cannot get the Forscan to work.

Can anyone assist in getting the program to work as when I plug in I get a message about the adaptor not being compatible?

Thanks all

You can either roll back the Forscan version to not get that warning or just ignore warning and carry on reading data once connected to car.  Is it same adapter you're using to connect to car as previous cars?

  • Author

Hi, yes same adapter that I have always used. I am toying with the idea of a new cable as I always have to guess which is hi or low on mine.

I will have to try downloading an older Forscan and try that as I cannot remember where I was on downloads prior to updating.

Many thanks for your reply

Barrie

do you now need to invest in a V-linker

  • Author

Yes a v-linker was my thought but I suppose I must ignore the cost. 🤣

It's warning you about the adapter so that you don't attempt to do any updates with it.

It should be fine for config and DTCs etc

A new lead won't hurt though, they're so much more reliable

I have the older ELM modified via tunnelrat and its fine for my 2007.. Uno will state from what year you need the V-linker. If you have access to FORscan lite [mobile phone] it can read codes but not program.

  • Author

Hi. I have the one from tunnel rat also. Just downloaded a very early Forscan version and that is working. I am going through later versions until I get things sorted out and then consider a new adapter, maybe 🤪

thanks all

Will have to read all that😀 I have downloaded version 2021-05-29 at the moment and that is working ok. Will keep updating.

Does anyone know of a way to delete all error codes in one go so that I can clear previous codes that are stored and no longer relevant so that only new problems show themselves?

I have only had the car a month so a lot of previous codes that have not been cleared so a bind removing them singly.

Again thanks all

Barrie

From memory there is an option to delete all DTC's in one hit, been a while since i've needed to go under the hood. Long as you always run a current back-up you can delete or add whatever Forscan and your vehicle will allow

Yes, there's a clear all button at the bottom of the screen

Right, climbed the steps to Cess! ordered a vlinker as recommended to me by Unofix £27.99 on Amazon, downloaded the latest Forscan, updated drivers etc and lo and behold working as it all should. Well happy can now do all I could with the old cars. No codes lurking now, yipee.

Thanks all for your advice and help

HI,ALL i have been following one of the members discussing forscan  usage and it scares me to bits .I am wanting to activate cruise on my 2013 mk 3  focus  1.0 eco. I have fitted a 2014 st wheel complete with all the necessary switches ,also fitted a clock spring from the same donor. I now come to the part where i need to activate the system and i am stumped.I am 91 years young and have not got the experience with programming  to go any further. Is there anyone in the club that can recommend a contact that carries out the programming ,I would be most grateful if so. I am in the west Sussex area but will travel if need be.

Is that in the UK ? 🤣

I think you should perhaps start a new thread with a heading like

"Looking for competent FORScan user in West Sussex"

Perhaps post it in the General Ford Related Discussions forum ? 🤔

@Rowan112 will talk you through it, if you PM him and ask him nicely. It's quite easy

Remember to let him know you've put a MK3.5 wheel on

Although, I seem to remember you just activate it and speed control in central configuration, then in the IPC, I believe

You're probably correct. I just think that @Geraldo18 being 91 years old would like someone a little younger (perhaps with a better understanding of technology) to give him a hand.

Joe Biden has retired so he might be available 🤣🤣🤣

Never knew Gatwick was so far away from London.  Someone should probably rename it.  Crawley Gatwick maybe? 🤔

Turns out Cardiff airport is the other side of Barry!  Which then led me to searching for the Gavin & Stacey houses...

its amazing how one thought or post can send a person off down the rabbit hole
