Mk2 - Brake Bleed Sequence (including Central Slave Cylinder

Featured Replies

Hi can anyone confirm the order to bleed the brakes please?

Is it furthest away from the master cylinder first? Or is it a different sequence.

Can this be done using a pressure bleed system like an Eezibleed and is that ok to use on the central slave cylinder without causing damage.

start with the furthest, 2 man job unless you have a bleed pump. never let the refill pot run down or you'll need to start again. plenty of vids out-there

I’ve used an Ezibleed in the past with ok results but got better feel at the pedal after a fluid change during a service where the brakes were bled manually pumping the pedal etc

Apparently the Ezi-bleed kits can put some air into the fluid which isn’t ideal

I've only ever made a mess with Eezibleed.  Probably user error though.  I much prefer a one-man bleeder with a simple one way valve at the caliper end.

On a Mk2.5 you should really use Forscan to do a service bleed.  That cycles all of the valves in the ABS pump and tells you which nipple to open each time.

As long as there's no air in the ABS pump already, doing it the old way should still be acceptable though.

Thanks @TomsFocus I've got Forscan. How do I activate the service bleed? Can I do that without having to subscribe?

It's listed under Service Procedures.  The tab with the spanner icon on the left hand side.

Not sure about subscription, it was all free back when I was using it.

Free extended license is fine

You don't need an Extended Licence to do Service Procedures in FORScan.

You will need to remove all four wheels at the same time though, there should be some videos online that show the procedure.
