Engine and block numbers

Featured Replies

It would help if I knew more about the origins of my Pinto engine.

I have found a casting number on the right rear of the block 15 H 79 and the V5 has an engine number WJ 36063, but despite my best efforts I cannot decipher what these numbers mean.

Can anyone help please? Thanks

John

For those following my DGVA thread I am happy to say the car starts immediately and runs happily at idle.....time will tell, but so far so good.

WJxxxxx is the build code, probably September 1979, possibly duplicated in the "15 H 79".  The WJxxxxx is also the last seven characters of the VIN code of the the respective car from which it came.  I don't know about the "15 H"
