Door locks on my 2013 1.6TDI mk3 Zetec

Featured Replies

Can some body please explain to me. Why do I have to double tap on the key fob so as the rest of the doors open. I have a 2013 Fird Focus 1.6 Tdi zetec.

If I press it once only the passenger door unlocks. But if I double tap all doors open

It's so frustrating. Is there a way of changing this.

Thanks

That is a very strange operation.

It is possible to have just the drivers door open on one key press.  That's a useful safety feature in a dark carpark for example.  Prevents someone hiding behind the car and then jumping in to steal something or even car-jack if all doors unlocked at once.

But there shouldn't be any way to have just the passenger door open on one press.  I wonder whether someone's fitted a LHD BCM by mistake?

Anyway, you can turn the feature off altogether, so that all doors unlock on a single press.  The process is shown below:

Reprogramming the unlocking function

Note:   When you press the unlock button either all the doors are unlocked or only the driver’s door is unlocked. Pressing the unlock button again unlocks all the doors.

Press and hold the unlock and lock buttons on the remote key simultaneously for at least four seconds with the ignition off. The direction indicators will flash twice to confirm the change.

To return to the original unlocking function, repeat the process.

@unofix is on the ball this morning!
