Ford Focus 1.6 2011 MK3 Manual Cruise Control Retrofit DIY

Featured Replies

Hi All,

First post here. Hopefully in the right section, if not can someone please direct to right category.

I've just installed cruise control on my focus, and its working fine.

My steering wheel already had the multimedia buttons but no CC/ASL buttons, so I bought one that had both sets of these buttons.

I installed the steering wheel which was fairly straight forward.

Then I followed some videos/guides on using FORScan and enabled CC and ASL in the BCMii Central Configuration (Main).

However, the issue now is that I've seen all the guides also enable CC/ASL in the IPC and some guides did a this in the PCM (and they never had IPC option).

But on mine, I couldn't see either of those options. Below are the options I see:

So, I've only made the changes in the BCM, wrote to main and disconnected.

When I tested the CC/ASL, it worked fine. Do I need to still go in and make changes to IPC/PCM or am I fine to leave it, as it is working without that?

Also the OBD2 adapter I used is XTRONS OBD2 Bluetooth adapted - is this the reason I'm seeing fewer modules (screenshot above) compared to the guides?

Many thanks,

Yes. You are not reading both the Medium Speed and the High Speed Canbus.

You need to use a vLinker FS cable with the latest version of FORScan.

Thanks , I'll invest in this.

Do I still need to go in and enable CC/ASL in the PCM too? I tested the cruise control yesterday and it worked perfectly fine. So just unsure about that.

Are you getting the green CC light come on in the cluster when CC is activated?

If not then, yes, activate in IPC

If all is working fine then no.

As @unofix has mentioned, you need the V-Linker or OBDLink-EX to communicate on all networks

Well the light isn't on the instrument cluster on the MK3's but rather on the small digital screen as shown below:

But yh, it shows cruise control is active - and when i tested it on the road it worked.

So i guess in that case I'll leave it as it is.

Thanks both 🙂
