2007 Focus mirror pin out

Featured Replies

I have to replace the passenger mirror on a 2007 Focus, the original mirror was knocked off in a parking lot and my wife didn't notice, so it's gone.

I got a replacement mirror from Amazon, but here's my problem:

1- The cable connector was pulled off along with the mirror. On the car, I have a bundle of wires with small crimp lugs still attached hanging out of the door.

2- This bundle has 4 wires:  white, green, and 2 black.

3- The replacement mirror has only 3 wires: white, green and 1 black.

Q1 : Do the wire colors on the replacement mirror correspond to the colors of the wires in the bundle hanging out of the car? I'm thinking YES, but you never know.

Q2:  I don't know which of the 2 black wires from the bundle to connect to the single black wire on the replacement mirror. Would I risk shorting anything out (or otherwise damaging something) by testing each wire, one at a time?

And the big question:  IS THIS REPLACEMENT MIRROR EVEN COMPATIBLE?

Thanks in advance for any and all replies.

As none of the experts have responded yet I'll try my best but I'm no expert.

The wire colours you've listed don't correspond to any of the circuit diagrams I can find for the Mk2/2.5 so the only thing I can suggest is trying a continuity check between each of the black wires and chassis earth. I'm guessing the 3 wires from the new mirror are for the up/down motor, the left/right motor and a common ground. If you can establish at least one of the blacks from the vehicle is ground you could try connecting that and leave the other isolated.

Most probably not.

Was your original mirror heated ?

Post some photos of your cars wiring and also the connector/wiring of the replacement mirror.

Interesting you should ask that @unofix. When I looked at the diagrams for the Mk2/2.5 posted by Preee they only show the motors in the mirrors and not the heaters. The Haynes diagrams show the heaters but the diagrams are described as "typical" so one probably has to take them with a pinch of salt. In neither case do the wire colours correspond to the ones mentioned by the OP.
