Fiesta 1.0 Ecoboost – Persistant Engine fault light

Featured Replies

My wife’s Fiesta 1.0 Ecoboost 2014 [which we have owned since new] was coming upto ten years old, so I had its wet belt replacement completed by the local garage who has always serviced our cars. We got the car back and everything seemed fine, then after a couple of days the orange engine light came on, so we returned the car to the garage, as they recommended should any warning lights illuminate. They say they cannot determine what is causing this fault light. They clear the fault code and test drive the car and it seems ok, they then leave the car for a short time and try it again and the same fault light comes back. They suspected it was the crankshaft sensor , so swapped this out with another sensor, but this has not solved the problem. They have now suggested that we take the car to  a Ford Main dealer for a diagnostic check. Which I know they will charge us for? Having paid out the original invoice to the garage to complete the wet belt replacement I feel it is their responsibility to fix this fault which wasn’t present when we gave them the car?

........and the fault codes are ? 🤔

The garage hasn't told us the fault codes being displayed, so I will have to get back to them and then update this post?

If the car drives fine then it is very likely to be P0402 or something like that.  That would be the O2 sensor.  That would be my guess.

Get yourself set up on FORScan and read the codes properly. Save paying Ford a diagnosis fee

If that's their suggestion, maybe they're willing to pay the Ford diag fee?  Their diag tool is unlikely to read Ford specific codes, which could be what's making the diagnosis difficult.

Otherwise, get Forscan as suggested above.

It's what many Ford owners use including some Ford technicians.
