Keyless entry, Fiesta 2013

Featured Replies

Bit of a strange one

I have recently acquired a Fiesta 2013 reg, it’s got keyless entry and no issues so far.

Today I dropped my partner off (who has a key) and drove the car back, before going home I went to the supermarket and turned off the engine. I then proceeded to lock the car by pressing the button on the door and noticed it wasn’t locking. I then realised that I didn’t have my key fob on me. I panicked and thought I would need to get my partner to come rescue me.

However I got back in the car and pressed the start button and the car turned on?!

I cannot find the key in the car at all! But it is turning on so I assume the key fob must be in it somewhere?! It won’t lock when I press the external door button and will start the engine when I press the button.

Luckily I can lock the car with the 2nd key (once partner came back) but is it right to assume there is a lost key fob out in the car? My understanding is that if a key is not detected, they should not start?

Well that information confirms that there is 100% without a doubt, a working keyfob somewhere inside the passenger compartment.

The doors will not lock if the keyfob is left inside. The ignition will not turn on, unless there is a keyfob inside of the car.

You need to get looking for it 😉

Thank you, that was my conclusion that it must be in the car somewhere. We were worried that it dropped out somewhere

Down the side of the seat near the seatbelt buckle is a common place to find them. They often get themself under the seat rail and are hard to see. Use a good bright torch 😀

the handbrake hole of doom is also a good place to look

Omg @cjay1 FOUND IT right there

my next question then is- any suggestions on how to dismantle to get this out?

I'd try to fish it out first with somethinglike this: If you can't, then watch this video.
