Mk2 Door Catch Replacement

Featured Replies

The front passenger door of my Focus Mk2 (2007) has a problem when trying to close it.  It will only lock if closed gently.  The garage says it needs a new door catch and I have been looking to buy a second hand one from ebay. (Yes, I'm assuming it won't have the same problem, but new door catches are about £200!) I can find complete door locks that match my model but when I have asked the seller, they have said there are two possible models for my car.  Do you think it is safe to assume the actual door catch is the same?  That's the only part I need.

I have seen another post here that suggests adjusting the strike plate, but I haven't been able to move this.  Is this a better option, though?
