Telematics unit focus 2019

Featured Replies

I have told my unit needs replacing however different sources tell me it is located in different places I was also informed that replacing the back up battery in the unit would solve the problem.

Is this the case and does anyone know the location of both the unit and battery.

And to be quite honest I do not understand the benefit of the telematics unit for a private owner.

And if anyone can help me on this matter. I have been quoted 600 quid to replace however I can only see the benefits are being able to open/close car from my ford app or being able to locate car if stolen.

Any help/advice would be appreciated.

It's also used by the e-call system, so if you have an accident it can automatically make an emergency call for you, or you can use the SOS button.

Battery is in the tcu. , tcu is buried in front of the centre console/dash area. But the malfunction needs investigating first before diving in to battery replacement. Battery will be a ford only part. Normally malfunction happens if you haven't used he car for a while thus depleting the tcu battery. Running the car for a while fixes it. Or maybe the battery needs resetting. Fitting a new battery requires recalibration. All a ford dealer job really.
