Having updated my sync 3.0 to Build 23219 about 3 months ago Ford have finally put a map update (presumably F12) on their server. The associated instructions say it takes up to 120 minutes to install. Has anyone else installed this update and, if so, how long did it take?

Further to my last post, I have just downloaded the Map Update from Ford and the Zip file is only 48kb. Once unzipped it only gives me an auto install.lst file and a single file in the SyncMyRide folder: GB5T-14G386-AE-tar-gz which is 47kb.

Doesn't seem right to me. Can anyone help?

Just give it a few more days, should eventually start offering a 23GB or so download. It's just two parts of the system being out of sync (no pun intended)

Thanks Alex, that is helpful. (I just spent 30 minutes talking to Ford Customer Relations who just kept reading the script of how to download and install the update to me. In the end she started saying my 32GB USB stick is too small because once formatted it is only 31.4GB! She finally agreed to speak to Technical and give me a call back tomorrow.)

Have you actually installed this update and know how long it takes?

I installed F12 for Sync 3.4 (same map data as 3.0 just split across more files), it took about 2.5-3hrs.

The same issue happened when F13 was released for Sync 3.4, it's like 1 part of the system recognises an update is available, but it doesn't actually have the package with the files ready yet.

Ford Customer Service came back to me today. They told me that despite the site saying there is a map update for me, there isn’t. Apparently Ford are no longer going to provide updates for my age of car (2017). My guess is that goes for an anyone with Sync version 3.0. 
 

Whilst I am some what surprised, I have to admit to some relief of not needing to bother with the whole clunky updating process.

Thanks for letting us with sync 3 know that there will be no update,i have been going round and round with the 48kb update all week.
Why offer the update when it's not available to sync 3, why not just tell us no more updates ever?
Been putting it off, but now I will be giving cyanlabs a long look into.
 

I connected my Mk8.5 Fiesta ST-3 (Sync 3) to WiFi and it said no updates were available, despite the Ford website saying there was an update available for my VIN. My car is on F11.

They also told me that they will not change the site to stop saying there is a map update available. Great service eh!

Only cars with sync version 3.0. Our cars were built before 2019

The Fiesta had Sync 3 until the end (July last year).

Odd that my car says there are no updates after scanning for them then. Mind you, the Ford website also says my next service is due in 2027, so who knows if there's actually an update there 🙄

You have a 2023, which is Sync 3.4.

It has different map updates to 3.0

Yes, but the Ford website says I have one, and my car says I don't.

Two different systems and ways to update. WiFi updates might be enabled later. 

I’ve just updated to the latest map update but it’s not created a log file when getting the log file zip of Ford website do you format the usb drive drive with the map update on or take the map update of before adding log file download

Can you checked if it is indeed updated?

To settings about Sync and there check which map version is installed.

 

Yeah it’s F13 now

Then you have to connect it to computer and upload the log file to ford so the system will be informed that your sync is updated.

I'll just plug my phone into the car via USB, and use Waze or Google maps 

Car map was never that good anyway
