Mondeo Titanium 2016

Featured Replies

Hi, I’ve just got this car and was thinking from what I’ve seen online, that it would show each tyre pressure.

Apparently not, according to Hartwell Ford.

Does anyone know if there’s any way this can be added please?

Your car wasn't built with TPMS sensors in each wheel. It uses the ABS wheel sensors to measure the number of rotations of each wheel and calculates the speed. If a tyre is deflating then the overall diameter of the wheel will get smaller as the tyre goes flat causing the speed of rotation to increase and trigger the tyre warning.

You can fit an after market TPMS system to your car quite quickly and cheaply. I think @StephenFord has a system fitted to his car.

Mk5 Mondeo will have tpms. But for some reason the instrument cluster was not programmed to show the tyre pressures on display but just show a warning.

Depending on what cluster you have , it can be programmed via forscan and an dlc adapter. Did it on my 2016 Mondeo titanium with high level instrument cluster. Not sure if the lower level cluster is doable or not.

Thanks, who would be able to do this, a tyre fitter?

What trim level is your Mondeo?

I bought a TPMS system about 10 years ago, and it's now on the 3rd car. Works perfectly, and in addition, the four sensors have user replaceable batteries, taking minutes to replenish. They also give the temperature of air in each tire. However, they were expensive, all 4 x sensors, plus the in cabin display were £25!

Where did you get that done please?

Get that done? (You self install it, 4 x sensors replace your standard air valve caps, display plugs into 12v socket) LOL I bought it on Ebay as with all my purchases, I detest Amazon. Just type in TPMS, you'll get 100s of different listings...

Thanks, I’m pretty useless at DIY though.😂🤞🏿

Also have to consider whether you want that massive screen stuck to your dashboard 24/7.  Personally I'd pay for an OEM upgrade rather than have to look at aftermarket items inside the car.

It's the camera angle LOL It's not massive at all, and it's not on my dashboard...

Who would do that please? I asked Hartwell Ford and they said they can’t modify it, as that’s how it came from the factory.

I did think they may be fobbing me off.😕

That would irritate me, as would the DAB screen, and all of those wires everywhere.  I've always hated aftermarket stuff inside cars, just personal preference.

Is it wired or wireless then?

I don't understand the question...

Ford aren't allowed to modify cars in this way.

You can do it yourself using Forscan and a VLinker cable for £30 as long as your dash is compatible.  Or find someone offering Ford upgrades such as cruise control.  The same sort of equipment is needed for that.

This is an example of an upgrade company, albeit for VWs.  I can't recommend a Ford one in your area unfortunately. Retrofitting Services - VW Retrofit

Do I need to connect wires from the sensors, to the display?

You really aren't much use to DIY 😂 ALL TPMS sensors are wireless, the length of 'wire' you need would be 100s of miles long for a car trip...

Have a day out and drive to Co. Durham (it's in England, not Scotland as some seem to think 🤣) and I'll programme the TPMS provided it is fitted as @iantt has said it is. Who knows what else might be able to be turned on for your car, like Auto door locking, Auto high beam (so long as the correct sensor is fitted).

Easy to check for tpms, check for the ridge on the tyre valve. Mk5 will have it . Titanium will have the right cluster. If the op posts up a photo of it to confirm. Auto high beam should be standard on titanium. There's a few things you can turn on. There's a guy on Facebook, Mk5 Mondeo owners, that can change all sorts via special software .

Cheers, do you think a normal mechanic would be able to do it?

The mechanic I use could, but not sure if he's, 'normal'...  May be off remit for many guys, you'll just have to ask to ask to gauge their competence.
