There's surely got to be something missing here...

Yup !!

Have you used a multimeter and checked that all 3 live supplies are present and correct at the trailer module ?

I don't know if the Ranger wiring is in any way similar to the Focus, but when I added the trailer module to my Focus I had to add a 40amp J Type fuse to my rear fuse box.20220122_115358.thumb.jpg.0edb357babb7e9a8d6c7731914efe598.jpg

I'm pretty sure I posted a guide, but all my guides seems to have disappeared from this forum.

Cheers Nathan I'll have a look at that tomorrow. Apparently my ranger has an "Auxiliary" fuse box under the bed at the back so i'll see what that looks like in the morning.

Not yet. Another thing i'll look at in the morning if I get a chance.

Should only be 2 lives going to the module on a 2018 ranger regardless of engine size.

Correct 👍

The third live just going direct to the towing socket. Funny thing is I posted that schematic last week and noticed at the time one live bypassed the trailer module.

I'm wrong, only 1 to module.

Which begs the question, is the trailer module used on a 2018 Ranger different to that used on a 2021 model ?

Has the OP got the correct trailer module if there are two different ones ?

I was thinking that earlier today about the right module.

This is the one that Ford Store said I needed for my reg number. My truck was registered in Sept 2018 so it’s definitely a 2018 build.

Just been checking and it seems that there is only one unit used between 2012 and 2024

Ford finis: 14472362

DB39-19H517-A?      ? = revision

There is another version of the unit that seems to be for use with the brake and lights module, DG9T-19H517-AJ but I don't think you would need that module

Still not moving on here...

So forscan is definitely talking to the TRM as when I unplug the power, it disappears so I know it's getting power.

There is an option to Enable Towing directly from the main screen however this is what I see when I try to do that...

Grrrrrr..........

Nothing I can find online explains what this is and why when I try to go into the TRM direct, the module loads and is then just blank! 🤦‍♂️

I know this would seem perhaps unlikely, but I'm beginning to think your Trailer Module is either faulty or is not compatible with vehicle or towbar.

Unofix for the win!

Had a towbar engineer come out this afternoon who confirmed that the genuine Ford module was either defective / wasn't the right version for my truck! Very odd as it was the only option given to me on the official Ford Store.

Anyway, after installing a 3rd party module and harness... boom... working! A quick flick into the BCM to enable the settings for fog light disable etc and voila!

So i'm another £200 down however everything works and i'm at the finish line! Thanks to all who commented and we can now close this thread 😅

Very good to know you have finally got it fully working 👍

You should return the Ford module and get a refund, obviously something not right with it.
