Air intake failure.

Featured Replies

Hi folks.

i have a 2017 ford focus 1.5 turbo desiel that's just started to give me problems. I'm hoping this community can help me . It has a full service history from new by ford, but just recently when I put my foot down I get an engine service alarm due to air intake failure, I plugged a obd reader !.  but it's been serviced , new air filter & hepper filters but it's getting worse, I had my family in the car on the m6 , went to overtake some hgvs engine service came on lost power in the outside lane with half a dozen hgvs bearing down !. Not a good place !. Please has anyone have any ideas. Ford Crewe want £120 just to plug it in!.

Hi,

This is a misleading message.  It has nothing to do with servicing.  Just means there's an engine fault.

Without knowing the exact fault code it could be a few different things.  Faulty MAF.  Faulty throttle body.  Clogged EGR.  Split boost hose.

I have the same issue when accelerating on a bypass engine service now on dash, after a few times of flagging up the eml came on plugged the car in a transpired it was a maf sensor contaminated with oil, an a little in the air intake hose. Anyone know what's the cause of this

Sorry, let's be careful not to get these two (separate?) issues mixed up leading to total confusion...(always better to start a separate thread despite the temptation to jump on with a supposedly identical/similar/different issue?)
Plus the risk of posting Focus specific threads in the General Chat forum leading to Mod Rage! 😉

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums.

Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member.

There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one.

If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance.

The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.
