Full Fixed LED headlamps when driving on the right

Featured Replies

My dealer advised me that my 2023 Titanium X headlights automatically change for driving in France, Belgium, etc. Apparently it is something to do with the road sign sensing. Is this correct and has anyone had any experience with driving a Mk4.5 abroad?

Not convinced about TSR picking up 'drive on left' signs, it's fairly limited in the signs it can read.

However the GPS will know when you've crossed a border so the lights could easily be automatic.

The manual option should still be available in the dash menu regardless.

Thanks @TomsFocus. Where in the menu? I have looked already.

I don't know specifically I'm afraid.  There should be a whole 'Lighting' section with a few other options as well.  Have you seen anything like that so far?

I can check the online manual later to see if that gives specific instructions for this.

Is this any he!p?

Edit Just occurred to me you may have a digital cluster, so may be via the touchscreen?

It Is on mine, similar procedure:

Adaptive Front Lighting - Switching the Headlamps for Driving on the Left or Right-Hand Side of the Road - Vehicles With: SYNC 3/SYNC 4

Ford Logo

SWITCHING THE HEADLAMPS FOR DRIVING ON THE LEFT OR RIGHT-HAND SIDE OF THE ROAD - VEHICLES WITH: SYNC 3/SYNC 4

  1. Press Settings on the touchscreen.
  1. Press Vehicle.
  1. Press Lighting.
  1. Press Adaptive Headlamps Setup.
  1. Select a setting.

Thanks @Eric Bloodaxe, but I don't have those lights. Mine are fixed LED.

Thanks, but the only thing under 'lighting' is headlamp delay.

Looks as if you can only do it with adaptive, and even then it's not automatic. Nothing in the handbook that I can see re: adjusting other types for LHD. Sounds like your dealer is mistaken.

In this other thread you said you could adjust fixed leds in the menus:

https://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/topic/153842-headlights-in-europe/

But that was your previous car, though, I think. And from the shot of the settings menu it did have adaptive.

Fixed LED headlights are just that, fixed.

Ford manufacture fixed LED headlights for RHD cars, and different fixed LED headlights for LHD cars.

My thoughts are if a simple bit of software could configure them for 'right' or 'left' then Ford would only make one set of fixed LED lights. 🤔

I very much suspect your dealer is talking out of the wrong end 🤣

Wouldn't that be a great idea! 😀

That's what I was thinking of as well...

@PaterAnt Does your current Focus have numbers 1234 on the headlight dial?  If so these are fully fixed LED's, unlike your pre-facelift.

Correct @TomsFocus. That is why I am asking about fully fixed.

They won't change then.  You'll need to add lens stickers.
