Limp mode

Featured Replies

Hi Guys

On Friday on the way home my vehicle did one clunk gear change shortly after setting off from a traffic light.

Other than that there has not been any other issues. I drive very conservatory and the vehicle has had a full service history with Ford.

22 973 miles on the clock.

Yesterday during a short trip I lost power as I was getting to my destination. I now realise the vehicle went into limo mode.

When I tried to leave there was no reverse gear so I had to push the vehicle backwards out of the parking bay.

I managed to get home in limp mode with the service light on as it was only about 2 miles.

When I plugged my Carly OBD reader in it picked up 2 Moderate -075100 & 270000 and 2 Critical issues - 02FA68 & 02FA02

See pictures attached.

I cleared them, undid the battery for 15 min and today took the vehicle for a nice drive down the motorway without any issue.

When I got back only one error came up when I scanned.

My problem is I'm off on holiday and have no time to get it to Ford or any other mechanic before I go so was hoping for some advice from the more experienced owners.

Many thanks in advance.

Mike

I know there is time pressure but, based on previous posts, you don't get Ford specific codes from some scanners so Forscan (free) with a lead is the way to go.
The fault details you give are very limited but it may be the intake air valve (throttle) or some other injection related issue:
https://obd2-codes.co/powertrain-codes/p02fa/

The transmission codes look separate but if there's wiring damage (rodents?) it may affect disparate systems.

Unless someone else has better ideas (which is likely!)

@unofix says:

FORScan (for use with Windows Laptop) : https://forscan.org/download.html

It's what many Ford owners use including some Ford technicians.

OR

For diagnostic use only:

That's an expensive gadget !!

Not very good for Ford's and costly to keep up to date.

Thanks for the replies so far, I think I'll get myself sorted with FORScan when I get back from holiday.

I'm more than capable when it comes to vehicles so just would like to know what the actual issue is before committing to any open ended repairs.

I'll update once I'm back and have done more investigations.
