I'm hoping someone here with a lot more knowledge will be able to get to the bottom of a problem as I'm stumped.

I've got a 2021 plate Custom with, what I assume to be, Sync 2.5 and the 8 inch screen. The Bluetooth doesnt work at all and neither does the system WiFi. The Bluetooth shows as being turned on but the actual word Bluetooth is greyed out and you can't toggle the on/off. My phone doesn't find anything and it was the same when my mate tried it. The system WiFi shows as being switched off and again you can't turn it on or off, I was hoping to turn this on and connect it to my phone's hotspot to check for updates. I've checked the ford website according to which there are no Sync updates available for my van. I've tried everything I can including a soft reset, master reset, pulling the fuse, disconnecting the battery and nothing. Still no Bluetooth. I travel a lot for work and it's a ***** pain not being able to make calls while driving. What I find odd is that the vans own hotspot does work and I can connect to that fine, as does Android Auto but that needs Bluetooth for calls even when connected via usb.

Any help is most appreciated. I've added pics showing the menu options and I'll add more showing the current software version.

Regarding WiFi and hotspots.

• You can not use your mobile as a hotspot and connect the vehicle to it.
• If you pay Ford for WiFi service, you can use the vehicle as a hotspot and connect your phone to it.

Yeah I've got an account but it doesn't offer any actions when im logged in. When I check for any updates this is all it says...

It would seem that your van was built with out the "less telematics/multi media" modem. So you can not receive over the air updates.

That still doesn't explain why Bluetooth isn't working. That might just require a system reboot.

Worryingly I've just noticed it also says "less cellphone interface system" so does that mean it also does not have Bluetooth ? 🙁

It's got a modem serial number and details in the About section and I can view it's location on the fordpass app so it must have? I've tried a system reboot and everything else I can find mentioned but nothing has worked. 

It would seem odd that it has the Bluetooth and system WiFi option but neither are enabled or can be used. It has android auto so why wouldn't it had Bluetooth. I'm sure there's a few things in that list that it says I don't have but I do

There are different types, all newer vehicles have a modem of some kind so the government can track your every movement. Or should I say so that in the event of a major accident the vehicle can report it's position to the emergency services.

I know it's a real pain to get to the vehicle battery on the transit but in order to do a full reset of all modules you need to disconnect the battery negative lead for 20 minutes. Then reconnect and WAIT for a full 5 minutes before turning the ignition on. This will reboot all modules in the correct order.

I tried that tonight and still no difference but ill give it a go tomorrow again, I maybe didn't wait 5 minutes before turning the key. I just checked there on the app and I can view location, fuel level, adblue and oil life so it must be able to transmit those details. It does say in that list above "mini mdia hub(x2usb)adp bsl+bt" which I took to be Bluetooth.

If Iantt sees this thread he maybe able to offer some answers, he works on Ford commercial vehicles so will have more of an idea about your van than I do 🤔

Have you been disconnecting stuff for a few weeks now. What have you actually disconnected today. There's been so many DTcs  triggered on your van it's difficult to narrow down. There are coms  error DTcs for the ACM today.

I hadn't tried anything for a while. Last night I just disconnected the earth and left for 20 minutes then afterwards tried a master reset again but still no joy. What codes does it show? Anything repairable that you can think of?

It's u codes for ACM communication. If I was to have a guess I'd say the ACM unit could be at fault. Replacement unit. Might be worth disconnecting the ACM then reconnecting. 

But needs the codes reading properly rather than relying on over the air etc/ diagnosis.

That's ideal though thankyou, I'll need to find someone near me that can scan it. Whereabouts would I find the ACM? In behind the screen? I'll try unplugging it and plugging it back in and see what happens.

Just out of curiousity how are you able to scan it remotely?

The ACM (Accessory Control Module) in a 2021 Ford Transit is located behind the glove box. To access it, you'll need to remove the glove box and the associated access panel.

I just think it's pretty cool lol. And that's what I've read and been searching for but there is most definitely nothing behind my glovebox. The mounting studs are there but no ACM. From what I can gather on some models with the 8 inch screen it is fitted behind the screen but there's so much conflicting information it's impossible to figure it out 

 Audio control module is Behind the screen/ heater controls etc.  , 

Just had another look at dtcs, and one I recognise as I see it occasionally is u3000. That's internal control failure. Usually for other modules.

Thanks I'll have a look at disconnecting that tonight and see how it goes. I don't have any other issues beyond the Bluetooth so i think a lot of the codes you're seeing could be historic, I'll need to find a way to clear them. I do have a diagnostic scanner that's a bit more than a basic OBD2 one but it unfortunately won't give me the access that Forscan does.

If you don't have a Windows laptop to be able to use FORScan, why not get the mobile phone version. You can do all the same diagnostics, and you can clear all the same DTC's as the Windows version.

I've got a laptop I can use but doesn't Forscan need a license? I would need to get a usb to OBD2 adapter but I can pick one up. Unplugged the ACM tonight and it's made no difference, and my diagnostic doesn't even recognise the vin for some reason so I cant use that.

You can register and get a 2 month free trial licence.

Use only one of the two cables in my post for FORScan. Do not try to use other types.

That's great I've ordered one of the cables and I'll download that later on. Fingers crossed it helps, even just to pinpoint what the issue actually is. 

So got this set up today and all I had initially were 3 codes. Only one connected to the ACM which was U3000:96:6D which, as far as I can tell, relates to a power steering issue. Cleared the codes and only one came back for an oil pressure fault. I did a forced reboot of the ACM, ran a self test, checked all the settings and even restored it to as built settings but still nothing. According to ForScan there are absolutely no issues with the ACM. I can see and change the Bluetooth name but that's it, no option to toggle it on or off or disable it. In the as built settings everything matches what I was able to find for my van but I don't know what these codes actually correspond to. Still at a total loss what's wrong with it.
