2010 Galaxy Ghia - Radio/Nav screen has gone all stripy

Featured Replies

This unit still works but its a bit hopeless on the usability front now the screen is all stripy.

The handbook shows six or seven other models but not the Sat Nav version.
Does it also have a 10 CD changer somewhere ?

My main question, what model is it ?
I'm happy to have a go at changing an LCD display if a spare is available but knowing the model would be a great help.

Ford label these LS RNS.  They are made by Blaupunkt and more commonly known as Travelpilot FX.

They don't have a CD changer input as far as I'm aware.

The 2008-2010 version of the above unit which used a DVD for the maps in place of the SD card used on later models, also had a 6 disc CD player built in, no need for an external CD player.

I don't know but does this unit not also have a 6 disc CD player built in ?

Thanks for the prompt responses!

Ordered a unit with the code included that has a 2015 manufacture date, it might have a newer sat-nav map as a bonus!

It was all going well with the new unit, everything was just peachy perfect then, half the front panel buttons decided they don't need to light up anymore.

Wine improves with age.
Cheese doesn't.

Some parts may contain Gorgonzola it appears.

Well, the Travelpilot FX has always been problematic. These units are extremely fragile and suffered from quite a few known electronic issues since they were introduced. Even a bad or discharged battery can cause these units to fail.

Many of these units have been replaced under the extended warranty program until that program ended.

The 2015 date on the unit is most likely the due date and not the production date. These units did have a maximum shelf life of 5 Years. Therefore, there is a due date printed on the label on the unit. Since the due date is 5 Years after the manufacturing date, the unit will be over 15 Years old.
