I would very much doubt it.

It would seem to me it is more a case of the Amazon key either not working or it being the wrong type.

You need to have a minimum of two fully working keyfobs in order to programme them in to the car. If the Amazon keyfob is not correct then neither keyfob can be programmed in to the cars memory.

The problem is I only bought the key fob from Amazon because these issues started, I believe the problem lies elsewhere

It also does not error out, or fail when coding the keys, both say it was successful, I attached pictures previously. In terms of key coding the car sees and knows there’s two keys coded, which is the original main dealer key and the Amazon key

Been out again today and checked on the KV antennas in the car, could only locate the one in the boot and it had 0V, both at the antenna and the connector at the wiring loom. Tested rf receiver power and it has 12V

what would cause the KV antenna in the trunk/boot to not have power? I have checked every single fuse on the car including the ones at the battery (the high voltage ones) and they are all fine except the original fuse KVM that blew (but has not blown since replacing)

Internal KVM fault seems most likely.

There's a chance it's chafed wiring, but usually that happens around moving parts such as doors, boot and front seats.  Wouldn't think the KVM wiring is likely to get chafed anywhere.

Unfortunate news. It’s the KVM. Took battery off and decided to take it apart and see, blown up. Can I buy a new one and code it using forscan? Or is this a main dealer job? How f*cked am I 😭

Think the auto 'defrost' of the KVM might be set a little too hot 😉

Yes you can replace it yourself. Make sure to get the exact same part, the very last letter can be different (higher, but not lower) and you can reprogramme with FORScan 👍

eBay or scrapyards should have quite a few of these.
