Latest Version of Maps/Satnav

Featured Replies

Hi,

Having just acquired a 2023 Focus. I'm disappointed to see that the maps are not current. Well, they might be the latest one but they're missing streets built 7 years ago.

Any idea as to what the latest version is and how to update without going to a dealer

Thanks

Solved by Arthurlie

What map version do you have?

F13

I don't have access to the car at present.  I'll check tomorrow.  I was expecting to have an updated satnav on a 2023 plate. My 22 plate Audi is more up to date

Post a screenshot (one that I can locate) or a GoogleMaps link and I'll tell you if those appear in F14.

My car (2017) has a "Sync 3" system and I have to manually download the updates from Ford UK and install through USB.

Your car probably has Sync 4, you should find the info and updates here: https://www.ford.co.uk/technology/connectivity/sync-4 , surely someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

If you dont want to pay Ford to update the car navigation, you can use your own phone navigation app. I use Waze. Others are available.

I shall have to take the car to a Ford dealer. There is no upgrade being offered.....plus more importantly and I am beginning to see this elsewhere,  SYNC4 appears to be causing issues with the battery. Got battery charged last week and interior lights wont come on unless you start the engine. Not ideal in dark nights. The car keeps going into battery saver mode despite being fully charged last week.

I had the battery charging problems last winter. There are loads of threads online about this issue, its worth reading through some of these. I just charge the battery periodically, it needs an overnight charge despite what the charger may say. Have you got the car app? This will show you what Sync and navigation upgrades are available for your car, under connected services.

Thanks. I do use the app but nothing showing for any updates..connected the car to my home wifi and tried updates from the car still nothing.. I think there's something else going on with SYNC4

Interu]ior lights will not come on unless you start the engine. Previoulsy thats  a battery issue to me. but 3 times I;ve had the battery checked and it's showing as fully charged.

It's the battery. Even if has been checked a dozen times, it's still the battery.

What does the battery measure first thing in the morning after bring parked overnight?

My plugin battery tester said 12.6 yesterday afternoon.  I had driven it a few miles in the morning. Last night I drove 2 x 30 minutes journeys...and the App last night and this morning was working well.  I hadn't put the car in my garage last night.  Went out earlier to do so..and "unusually " the interior lights came on as you would expect. Reversed the car into the garage came into the house and battery saver notification was showing on my phone.  Kwik Fit somewhat "refused" in a nice I'm not taking your money for no good reason kind of way. Fair play guy trying to do the right thing for the customer. I'm more than happy to pay for a battery. If it resolves my issues. I'll ring Ford tomorrow and see what they say.  Thanks for your help.

Checked battery 🔋 again. Was guessing 12.6 it's actually 13.6. So it should be OK

Something is not right. The battery can not be 13.6V, it simply does not have the ability to hold a charge voltage that high for more than a short while.

If the reading was taken when the engine was idling or it was taken shortly after the car was parked then you would see perhaps around 13.6V but that can not be the true State Of Charge of any 12V battery.

Are you using a digital multimeter and measuring the voltage directly across the battery terminals ?

Its a plug in voltage meter with the car engine running. Not a great photo

I don't know what day your wheelie bin gets emptied, but make sure you put that in it before the next collection day !!

It is measuring the alternator voltage not the battery, no wonder your voltage readings make little sense. In order to get the true battery state of charge it must be done using a digital multimeter that can measure to two decimal places.

OK. Bins tomorrow 😄

And to get a meaningful result it would be best to do it first thing in the morning before starting the car.

For the Nav, you need to sign up and pay for updates if you want to use the Ford navigation system.

Not on a 2023 Focus. Nav updates from Ford are free downloads.
