I'm booked in with Ford on the 18th to start investigating which of the many options of fix is required. The fact that I connect to my home wifi and neither software nor map updates are being offered,  along with no interior lights , battery saver warning. And inability to permanently switch off Stop/Start.  All required investigating.  My proper battery test meter arrives tomorrow and I can then monitor the battery status properly to see if that is going flat. Despite what the garages are telling me.

Not on a 2023 Focus. Nav updates from Ford are free downloads.

Not on my 23 Focus?

This is what it says on my Ford account.

Connected Nav

Connected Nav gives you access to cloud based navigation, Local Hazard Information, and more – see what’s included below:

Available Plan

Monthly Plan

Offer expires 2025/12/31

₤3.99 per month for the first 12 months, then ₤5.50

Car registered Feb 23, I bought from a dealer Sept 23.

Hmm. Have you got Sync 3 or Sync 4. I thought that connected NAV was only for Sync 4.

Sync4. Previous car was Sync3. I used it there only a couple of times. Currently defaulting to Waze as it's free and very good.

Ok. Thanks that's interesting. I'll subscribe to the plan and check for any updates. I've just put the car in the garage. Not sure if I'm using it or mine tomorrow. But I'll update here with progress when completed. Cheers

Gold star. I have paid for the maps and it's updated.  Good shout.  What happens when I Don't pay £3.99 next month...I'm assuming that they wouldn't be pedantic and revert to an older version 🤔

As that seems to have worked, sounds like a good plan to sign up for 1 month every year.  £3.99 a year doesn't sound too bad.

A question thought, when your subscription runs out, does the sat nav stop getting traffic reports?

On a previous car using Sync3 traffic reports ran out. I'd expect the same here. But fair play to Ford for an easy map update. Far better than Jaguar and Audi. And as for Audi's app. Awful. You should see the Forum on that subject. Can't even get simple tyre pressures.

Something is not right. The battery can not be 13.6V, it simply does not have the ability to hold a charge voltage that high for more than a short while.

If the reading was taken when the engine was idling or it was taken shortly after the car was parked then you would see perhaps around 13.6V but that can not be the true State Of Charge of any 12V battery.

Are you using a digital multimeter and measuring the voltage directly across the battery terminals ?

battery shows as 12.17 without starting the engine 14.76 when idling. alternator indicator shows as High

The battery has gone to the big scrap heap in the sky. Time for a new good quality one.

14.76V is spot on for the alternator trying to get the battery to accept a charge. The voltage will settle down to around 14.60

Did I read somewhere that a Ford battery was under warranty for 3 years or 30k miles?  I'm more than happy to buy a new battery as I tried to last weekend.  If it will let me get my life back after too many weeks chasing issues and fixes

Some say yes and some say no.

Some dealers will fit you another rubbish battery for free and some won't even do that. The terms of the battery guarantee are very 'ambiguous'

The battery is warranted against manufacturing defects but not against wearing out due to general use. Good luck arguing that point with a dealer who won't replace the battery.

Fit yourself the Yuasa YBX7096 battery, increase the State Of Charge and live happy ever after 🎉

Just had a thought 🤔 🎉🎉

You have a 2019 Focus Mk4 with the 1.0 Ecoboost engine.

Changing the battery to the Yuasa YBX7096 EFB Start Stop Car Battery, and also changing the cars maximum 'State Of Charge' using FORScan from the factory default of 80% up to a new level of 95% might well be enough to keep fully running.

My own car uses the YBX7096 (because mine is a 2.0 Diesel) and I've increased the SOC up to 95% The only time I need to give my battery an occasional charge is in the middle of winter. The rest of the year it manages to maintain a healthy battery.

I know, it says so in your profile. I was simply quoting myself form another current thread with information that is also relevant to your case.

Some time later....I should have separated map updates from ongoing battery issues...but toom car to a Ford dealership to have what i was expecting a check for a rogue discharge. All they did was to recharge the battery and reset battery monitor.  I had the battery recharged myself 3 weeks ago but it didn't stop the battery save message.  First thing I did before starting the car that has sat on the forecourt overnight waa to test the battery. 11.91 !!. Reception couldn't help as mechanics, sorry technicians were all too busy and I  would have to leave it with them. They already had it for 2 days. I've taken it away and will see if battery memory reset magically fixes anything. I shall retest the battery again later and see what it shows. But it has only gone 3 miles since I picked it up

I'd like to thank Vertu Motors for having the car for 2 days and doing absolutely nothing to fix this ongoing issue

At 8 month my car was giving alerts weekly, then over the next month down to twice weekly.  I took a load of voltage measurements proving that it was loosing 50% of State Of Charge (SOC) overnight, and the garage took it in for tests and will be swapping the battery next week.  As the BMS is set to stop charging the vehicle at 80% SOC (although my dealer said this was 85%), you might expect to get this message once in a while, but not on a regular basis.

BTW, I understand the dropping of the max SOC related to extending battery life, however I'm not convinced as I've had many cars over 9 years old before they need a new battery.  I suspect it's more to do with efficiency targets.

If you want to take this discussion elsewhere away from this thread, then perhaps continue with

Thanks Unofix. Finally went to Halfords and got the Yuasa battery you suggested fitted today.  I'm hoping that i don't wake up tomorrow morning with a battery saver message.
