Focus mk 2.5 1.6tdci titanium keyless entry not working

Featured Replies

Hi , 2010 1.6tdci mk 2.5 , out of the blue my keyless entry is not working this morning , have tried the other keyfob and also changed the

keyfob battery without any change in the situation . My car battery is about 2 years old and the car was running fine last evening .

I tried the key in the keyfob and it only turns (with difficulty) about 2/3 rds to the right and didnt open the door.

Does anyone know if i did manage to open using the doorkey would that set off the alarm , ? 'cos

with the keyfob not working i dont know how to turn off the alarm .

Any ideas will be gratefully received , i am in the AA but the car is in a narrow hilly carpark and facing the wrong way.

thx in advance .

Yes the alarm will go off when you open the door manually. (Unless the car battery is totally flat).

Remove the cover from steering column and push the emergency key blade in there all the way. Do not attempt to turn it. Press the clutch and push the start button as normal.

AA fixed it for now , he opened the bonnet with the key , attached his battery booster , the doors then opened on the fob and he started the car .He said the alternator is working fine but the battery had gone flat , which is a puzzle 'cos i used the car at 21:30 yesterday and when i came to use it at 10;30 today i had this problem.Possibly something is draining the battery (battery is 2.5 yrs old) .The radio is playing up atm , not coming on at all today and a few days ago it came on sound wasnt working . Besides that the boot only opens on the key. Will give the car a run later after 8pm it's friday rush hour here and roads are gridlocked.

thx for the reply Tom.

I think the radio was draining the battery , previously either the radio sometimes didnt seem to power on or it powered on and there was no sound .sometimes the sound came on later .

For the time being i have removed fuse 118 and 122 , they are under the golf box

and the car starts as normal . I'm not using the radio.

I should add , mine is a titanium , anyone following this post should check the handbook for thier particular model , 'cos the audio fuses might well be different for thier model .
