Hard wiring dashcam to titanium x

Featured Replies

Can anyone help me with fitting a dash cam. I have bought a Nextbase dashcam with the hard wire kit.

I'm having trouble with the live side of the under the passenger glovebox and i some times get power and then i goes off. Its a push button ignition.

i have tried tail left and right and put a second fuse into the adaptor.

Are you looking for the constant live or ignition live?

I have the 2019 ST Line EcoBoost, for me the:

Ignition live was Fuse 3 Parking Assist Control Module

Constant live were Audio Unit, Heads up display, ignition switch and Voice Control.

Hope it helps

Thank you Rich G. All sorted. I was trying to fit it to a car with a flat battery. The dashcam wouldn't work with the low voltage. At first I didn't click. Charged the car battery and everything else was piece of cake. Thanks for replying.

John. A random question. Since installing the hardwire, have you had any issues with your radio, such as when using it with the ignition off, it cuts out after a few minutes? I ask this as I've just installed the hardwire kit, and my radio cuts off after 3 minutes, and I am trying to eliminate various things before I start getting twisted into various shapes and getting my hands dirty.

Hello David,

Sorry, no, I haven't noticed anything. Is it cutting out while you are driving or eng idling

Or eng off etc. Some radios have time out settings but I guess you already know that.

With the engine off and keys out of the ignition, if I turn the stereo on, I am prompted with Ford Audio 1 hour, which should allow play for one hour, however, it turns off after 3 minutes. So if I am cleaning the car, or say sitting in the car waiting for someone, if I want the stereo on for longer than 3 minutes, I have to have the engine running, and that's not how it should be.
I've read info online, and it is mentioned about the dashcam being hardwired and taking a small current, and because it is, it can affect the radio in some cases, but not all. So I am trying to narrow things down before I have to start getting into difficult places in the car.

Your car battery is probably very low on charge.

Also not a good idea to use the radio with engine off on modern cars anyway. It keeps various modules awake to do so. It's not just the power for the radio alone. Better off using your phone for radio with engine off.

Just a guess, but what is the battery health like?

My battery was flat by the time I had installed the dashcam, I was turning the ignition on and off to check power to the fuse box. I know that the dashcam will shut down if the battery power is low. Is it possible that is happening.
