Best battery for Focus mk3 ST TDCI

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I am just wondering what battery I should be going for in my ST diesel?

Noticing quite weak cranking on cold start, start-stop not working (not sure if it was coded out or not), and when sitting with the engine off, battery saver mode kicks in in a couple of minutes or so (not sure if this is a standard limit, or if it’s adaptive based on battery voltage)

There must be a fair amount of strain on these with the ST3 goodies.

Could someone please advise which battery is correct for the vehicle? Hearing mixed reviews of various brands.

Thank you

Charge it, get it tested?
Halfords own brand or anything purchased from them (Yuasa?) means you can get it changed quickly anywhere in the country (for a MANUFACTURING fault - increasingly rare?)
The "warranty" doesn't cover starting the car for the stated period so don't be fooled by that.
On a price/warranty time ratio their own brand seem good value (to me)
Stop start seem to be a lot more expensive but if you've got it, you need the specified battery?

I’ve not managed to get it out to measure it, would rather replace it at the same time.

The one on the car is I am guessing the original. Does anyone have the measurements for this? Is it a 315mm?

Good shout on Tanya, thanks mate. I had a bit more of a search around. Halfords had a few that were different sizes.

But seems the best fit for my tractor is 315x175x175.

Went for a Bosch S4 E10 EFB 75Ah 730A

I went on eBay, there was actually a voucher code active on there Tanya’s store. Ordered one for £99 delivered in the end. Not a bad price compared to Ford’s £300 offering.
