CD/radio 6000, time can be changed but reverts to original

Featured Replies

Hi, Mk2 Focus, 55 plate.

I bought and fitted a replacement radio/CD. I set it all up, including the current time. It changed back to its default time when the engine was switched off. Anyone know how I can fix this?

The most likely explanation is that the permanent 12V feed to the radio that maintains the settings is missing. I don't have detailed specific circuit schematics for your model so can't pinpoint where this enters the radio unit. Hopefully one of the gurus will be along shortly with more information. My Haynes manual only has a "Typical audio system" diagram. This shows a permanent feed on audio unit connector C443 pin 15 as a black/orange wire coming from GEM connector C102 pin 16 but it's anyone's guess whether this can be trusted.

Thanks, Mike

Try setting the time from the dash, not the radio.

Absolutely rubbish that it does not use RDS CT, ie clock. This is one of the earlier examples of electronic stupidity fitted to modern cars.......
