Focus MK3 no calls when trying to sell the car

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I am not sure if this is appropriate topc for this, please do let me know if it isn't.

I am trying to sell my 2012 Ford Focus MK3 in Titanium that I've looked after quite well. Priced it competetively, but I am getting 0 calls from autotrader, even after dropping the price a few times.

I wonder what I'm doing wrong so figured I ask here.

Not sure if I can post links, but it's candy yellow one listed ~2 weeks ago with 94k miles

Thank you

It is fourteen years old and yellow. Nobody wants it.

There is a silver one on there found in a minute, 87000 miles and 500 cheaper. At this end of the market, that is going to be a much better deal for somebody looking for a Focus.

Sorry to be so blunt but the market decides.

Thanks for looking at the similar options! And yes, that's a really helpful perspective.

I'd like to add some positivity after anons post but...that really is an awful colour! I think the pictures are making it look worse too. If you can take it to a more rural setting with a park or green fields in the background it would look better.

Tyres covered in mud gives a bad impression. As do scuffed alloys. Those and that bumper scrape would cost more to repair than a cambelt change, the expensive work hasn't been done. Got to add another £100 for a second key to be cut and programmed as well.

Tax is ridiculous on these too. If it had been 1.0 EcoBoost or 1.6 TDCI the tax would only be £20 a year. Fuel economy would be better on either of those as well.

It's also not 'top of the line'. That was the Titanium X.

Personally I'd also remove the decal.

To summarise, the main point is to take better pictures with a more colourful background to detract from the colour. Also give that tyre a clean if you want to include the bumper scuff, though personally I would just take a wide angle corner shot so it's included but doesn't look so bad.

I would also suggest this more of a Facebook Marketplace, eBay or Gumtree car than an Autotrader one, given its age and value. Though I appreciate you may not feel as safe some of the buyers that use those sites.

That's really good feedback, thank you! Appreciate the advice too - will think of a nice place to take some new photos, after a thorough wash.

And RE tax - totally agree on that, I sort of regretted not getting the diesel one initially I must admit.
