MK4.5 ST boost leak

Featured Replies

I've a MK4 facelift st, 2.3 ecoboost and just fitted an airtec induction kit with top pipe. Absolute pig of a job. Anyway I think I've knocked the factory boost pipe and it's "quick release" fitting. It's got a bit of wobble too it. I've unclipped the pipe and tried to push back in and reclip but it still wobbles but does not pull outwards anymore than about a mm. Connected laptop up with forscan and done a run and it's definitely looking like a boost leak. I'm getting no more than 13 psi, the ECU is clearly asking for more. Any tips on how to fix or do I just bite the bullet with an after market kit?

I'm the second owner of this car and picked it up with 11,500 miles on it. It apparently was serviced at dealer in December and has just been parked on forecourt every since. I've put around 300 miles on and just checked the plugs. Considering they were done in December they are very black. Maybe it's had a slight boost leak before? Or has someone in the cars history remapped it. Anyway here's the suspect pipe.

Hi Stuart, I would doubt that it's leaking at the joint as they do allow wobble and movement(mine moves a lot) also pretty sure it has an o-ring seal same as to the intercooler, also do you hear any pssst noise at full boost?

With forscan does the TCBP-DSD equal the TCBP if so it's making what the ECU is requesting also is MAP similar too?

-regards to "I'm getting no more than 13 psi, the ECU is clearly asking for more" --how are you measuring it and how do you know ECU was asking for more-what was it prior?

is it mapped or stock? Being a Torque based ECU sometimes boost is down whilst timing more advanced and visa versa to achieve requested torque
