Powertrain malfunction again

Featured Replies

Focus 2.0 auto 2019

I posted a while back that I had the message "powertrain malfunction" and when I read the codes, I had P02A1:9B-68 cylinder 2 injector leaking. Tomsfocus kindly advised not to worry about it too much, as the leak was internal on the injector. I've since had it happen another 2 or 3 times. Now I'm getting P2002:00-64 "particle filter efficiency below threshold" . Status (50) Pending- Malfunction is expected to be confirmed.

I also had a message a while ago saying a regen had been started, but abandoned because of this same error. I did a static regen and that went ok.

I had it in the dealers a while back for the DPF recall, and software update. They found no errors. A year before I got the car, the previous owner payed £1400 for a new DPF as the old one was cracked

Does it sound like I'm heading for another one? The letter I got from Ford said after the software update, they would cover the warranty on the DPF for as long as I owned the car

Hi,

If you're getting the same code for the injector more frequently now then it's probably time to replace it. I remember from your previous post that it was only occurring occasionally after a long drive before.

I wouldn't expect the DPF to have cracked again. The software update should prevent that from happening. If Ford are willing to check the DPF for free then that's ideal, but they may charge you the diag fee to do that.

P2002 is often caused by a faulty pressure sensor or cracked pressure pipes, so that's not a surefire sign of a crack in the DPF. If you can provide pressure readings at idle and under load (3000rpm uphill, for example) that will give us a better idea of the DPFs condition.
