Turbo Banjo Copper Seals

Featured Replies

Simple question, I hope, I've been told my small oil leak is emanating from the copper seals fitted to the banjo fittings on my turbo. I have a Mk3 Focus 2.0l diesel 2013 could someone advise me of the ford part number for the correct seals please?

Hi,

Part number looks like 1307340. However that might have been superseded as there aren't any genuine ones available to buy.

Also, it may not be as simple a question as it seems...there is a small oil filter inside the banjo bolt. If the seals are leaking, it is possible that the filter is becoming clogged and putting excess backpressure against them.

TomsFocus, thanks, some helpful links and information. I wasn't aware the seal was a Dowty style seal. When I was told it was leaking I was informed it was an annealed copper O'Ring not a Dowty. The filter tube is also new to me which is of help. I wonder if you can buy the Bajo fitting and this is all included, most probably not. You would'nt have the dimensions for the Dowty seal?

Thank you :)

Ford don't sell them as a kit unfortunately. The banjo bolt is here (1337174).

There aren't any seal dimensions provided on the catalogue I'm afraid.

Thanks for your help. I've emailed Ford and asked them about the Banjo and what seals they recommend, see where that gets me

Cheers

That filter is often removed from the oil feed to the turbocharger. It is considered less harmful to feed contaminated oil to the turbocharger instead of no oil at all once the filter becomes clogged.

Hello Tomsfocus

Thanks for the info you gave me, I got in contact with Ford via their EBAY site. I decided to buy OEM Banjo bolts 1337174 from there. I cheekily asked if they sell the Seals for these Banjos and they came back with this new part number 2046360. Which is also a bonded (Dowty) seal. I've not fitted the OEM parts as yet but I have been assured they are correct parts by Ford, Fingers crossed.

Its worth noting the new part number for the next person that needs help :)

Update

I bought the new Banjo and seals from Ford via Ebay and there were fitted today. Sadly the oil was ***** out when the engine turned over. We checked and by chance I bought two lots of seals and the second pair leaked too. Whilst inspecting the bajo I noticed the new one was slightly different length and as a last chance, we fitted the new seals but with the old banjo. Horrah all was leak tight. That was a tense hour!!!
