Further to my mudflaps post, does anyone know what this piece of trim is for / what purpose it serves ?

It seems I have to remove it to fit genuine Ford front mudflaps.

Thank you in advance for any help.

    That piece of trim has been carefully designed to make fitting mud flaps more difficult. Looks like it's working perfectly. 🙂

    Seriously though, it protects the wing edge from stone chips. Not needed in addition to mud flaps.

    Sadly not, I think you are on the right lines with that though.

    I would remove the trim very carefully just in case it turns out the flaps don't fit your spec and you need to refit them.
