About to pull the trigger

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Looking for some expert feedback/thoughts before I pull the trigger on a focus for my lad.

Ive been offered a 2012 1.0 ecoboost for what seem like a cracking price, 69K mileage, wet belt done recently, turbo replaced in last five years, good tires all round, MOT history indicates 1 Advisory 3 years ago (corroded coil spring) , has FSH and receipts for all work, its done 4.5K a year regularly for the last 7 years with the current owner.

Is this a potential timebomb or have a I found a rare gem?

Hi,

This really rests on whether the wetbelts were done 'properly' or not. If you've got an itemised invoice from a highly rated garage proving both belts, sump removal, etc, then the engine should be good for many more years.

If you've just got a scrap of paper that says 'wetbelt changed - £500' then walk away.

Out of interest, what's considered a cracking price for one of these now? I sold a 2013 Titanium at 5 years old with similar mileage for less than £4k iirc!

£1500, from online searches locally (autotrader etc) it seems like a good price
