This sounds like either clutch whoop or rear brakes sticking slightly.

Can you tell whether it's coming from front or rear?

From the front it’s not the brakes I have had them checked. The car drives perfectly in every way

Most likely clutch whoop then. Not a fault as such, just annoying.

If you load the clutch and creep slowly enough in 1st gear you'll probably hear it moving forward as well. We just don't usually drive forwards so slowly.
