Ford Galaxy 1.8 Leaking Fuel Pipe Help

Featured Replies

Hi all, ive got a small pin prick on my fuel pipe which is starting to make me lose fuel and with current fuel prices i'm now ***** away money, not a major leak as yet thankfully! In the attached pictures it is the fuel pipe that either comes or goes from the fuel pump to the tank, i'm not sure i'm calling it the right thing either! I've looked on catcar to try and i identify the correct part number but i'm not sure if it is listed or i am just not identifying it correctly. I've called ford to try and get a replacement but the guy is insisting a book it into workshop to identify it!

Could someone please identify that correct name i should be calling it. Secondly IF i have correctly identified it on catcar part number 1487357 it says call the hotline for repair instructions, is it not a simple matter enough for my joe mechanic to replace? Thirdly any idea how i can do a temp repair job to stop the fuel loss, was thinking of just wrapping an old bicycle tube around it and zip tie till i get the right parts. And finally does the whole metal tube need to be replaced or can the rubber molding be pulled off and the replacement slots in. My leak is NOT on the metal looking bit, seems to be on the pipe itself.

Hi,

It looks like that is the right part number for the latest version of this pipe.

You can't replace just the plastic section as they're heatshrunk on at the factory so it is the whole pipe from front to rear that needs changing.

It looks like they had problems with the original version of this pipe and changed the routing slightly. If your car has the original version then you need to replace another pipe and a couple of pipe clips as well. Part numbers are shown for those here.
