Focus engine stalling

Featured Replies

Just purchased a 2024 focus 1.0l ecoboost Titanium X. From leaving the forecourt the engine keeps stalling at junctions. The message displayed says " manual restart required".

I'm getting the impression this is not uncommon. Can I ask if anyone has received a long term successful fix for this problem, or should I hand the car back? Or any other advice please

The battery is likely to be low on charge after having sat on a forecourt for a while.

If you've got a battery charger, try charging it overnight and see if the car works properly the next day.

If yes, get the dealer to replace the battery. If no, it's up to you whether to see if they can fix it or just reject it.

And in the mean time, as soon as you start the engine turn stop/start off

Looks like a software issue too to me.

The stop/start is activating because it thinks there's enough power to restart, but there is isn't.

It shouldn't do that.

I would just take the hit a fit a new, higher capacity, NON FORD battery

Ford's batteries are junk
