1.5 focus ecoboost camshaft

Featured Replies

Hi everyone. I’ve got a 2017 1.5 focus ecoboost with a knackered exhaust camshaft. I’m looking for a replacement if anyone can point me in the right direction. I found an inlet and exhaust camshaft on eBay from RSEngineParts but unfortunately when they turned up my mechanic noticed some pitting on the journals and isn’t too happy about fitting them. I’ve tried Ford but they only want to sell me a new engine. Ideally I’d be wanting to replace both camshafts, the part numbers are DS7G 6A270 and DS7G 6A272. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Sam

Camshaft set inlet and outlet for Ford B-Max Ecoboost DS7G-6A267-AA DS7G-6A268-AA Original | Tornau Motoren

A brand new original set for €799,-.

This is quite a fair price for a set of these original camshaft.

I strongly suggest installing a set of original camshafts. There are quite a few Chinese knockoffs these days (often offered for about €150,- a piece) which are usually quite poor quality. It is recommended to stay well clear from these.

Be aware that when replacing the camshafts, it is highly likely that 50 to 75% of the solid tappets needs to be replaced to adjust the valve lash. These tappets are also not particularly cheap.

These camshafts do not just wear out. I have never seen or heard from it. Before installing new camshafts, it is therefore extremely important to find and solve the cause.

Thanks for your reply mate. Unfortunately the numbers on the ones you found don’t match the ones that have come out of my engine. Can’t find any of these in the UK.

For the 4-cylinder 1.5 EcoBoost the following part numbers are listed in Microcat:

Intake camshaft:
Part number: DS7G-6A267-AA
Finis number: 1801262

Exhaust camshaft
Part number: DS7G-6A268-AA
Finis number: 1801264

These are the only part numbers listed for the 4-cylinder 1.5 EcoBoost used in all European Ford models. Ford does not list any alternatives or cross references to different part numbers for these. These numbers are 100% correct.

The numbers you listed (DS7G 6A270 and DS7G 6A272) are in fact not the Ford part numbers. Those are just the casting numbers which are different from the European part numbers.

You will only find these numbers in the US. Ford uses a different part number designation system for the US (where they use the casting number for camshafts).

I’ve physically seen the camshafts that came out of the car and they have DS7G 6A270 and DS7G 6A272 stamped on them along with the FoMoCo stamp, which I can only assume means Ford motor co, which leads me believe they are the original camshafts. I appreciate your time and replies, I’m just rather confused with all the number and really struggling to find genuine Ford parts in the UK.

As I said DS7G 6A270 and DS7G 6A272 are just the casting numbers (these camshafts are made of cast iron). These are not the part numbers.

There is a difference between the engineering (casting) number and the part number. These are 2 different things.

In this case DS7G 6A270 and DS7G 6A272 are the engineering (casting) numbers which correspond with the following part numbers:

Intake camshaft:
Part number: DS7G-6A267-AA
Finis number: 1801262

Exhaust camshaft
Part number: DS7G-6A268-AA
Finis number: 1801264

This is strange. Parts catalogue suggests Ford stopped selling camshafts for 1.5 EcoBoost, which explains why the dealership couldn't sell you any.

However, I'm not sure what 6006 refers to in this case. Anyone know?

These camshafts are indeed no longer available. In fact, they were discontinued many years ago.

6006 refers to the complete cylinder head. Ford does no longer consider the camshafts to be a replaceable item and therefore only offers the complete cylinder head.

There are however a few being offered as new old stock. For example the link I posted earlier.

Pumaspeed offers brand new cylinder heads for the 4-cylinder 1.5 EcoBoost for only £849.

COMPLETE BRAND NEW OE 1.5 EcoBoost Cylinder Head - SINGLE EXHAUST PORT TYPE M8DA - 1.5T Ecoboost - Engine - Cylinder Heads - Pumaspeed Milltek Ford Performance Tuning Milltek Sport Exhaust Ford Fiesta Focus ST RS Parts Specialist

With this price replacing the complete cylinder head will probably be more cost effective as replacing both camshafts and requiring a considerable amount of solid valve tappets to adjust the valve lash.
