2016 2.0TDCI ST Line Estate - Fault Help

Featured Replies

Hi All, first time poster so hopefully I am in the correct place.

I have a 2016 ST Line estate with the powershift gear box - the car is over in Spain and I use it when over there, cracking motor and I am really pleased with it. The car has done around 85K and I had a full service done including timing belt and gearbox service a few months ago. Last time I was over the engine management light came on, I used an OBD reader and its P2463 DPF soot fault, I cleared it and it stayed off for a few days but then came back on. I then did a long drive at around 3000rpm but the light came back on, reset it again and used some Wynns DPF cleaner in a full tank of BP ultimate, shortly afterwards I could smell a fuel smell in the cabin which has come and gone over the last hundred miles or so. The light came back on and now it wont reset using the OBD. The problem I have is that I am not over that often and to get the car looked at involves a right hassle as there is limited taxi service and I don't have access to lifts. I suppose the questions I am asking is 1. Can I use the OBD to diagnose the issue or just read the code ? 2. Is the car okay to drive - its going great, no power issue, no black smoke ? 3. I was thinking of getting the forscan software and having a go at doing the static DPF regeneration - any advice on this?

If anyone can assist it would be greatly appreciated

Hi,

On that model the most likely cause is a faulty DPF vaporiser. That cannot be diagnosed any further using Forscan.

I would not recommend trying a static regen in this case. Just get it to a garage and ask them to physically check the vaporiser and replace if necessary. Although it'll cost a bit more, if you can get it trailered to the garage and back while you're away, that would be least hassle for yourself.

Hi Tom, thank you for the response, the car isn't in limp mode so would it be possible to drive it to the mechanic? Don't think they will lift it from the airport

Hi Tom, thanks for the advice. Much appreciated

Yes, you can drive it to the mechanic.

The first post mentioned a lack of taxis and lifts which is why I suggested getting it trailered in this case.
