Mk3 Focus Interior Front Keyless Entry Antenna Location

Featured Replies

Hi, I was wondering if someone could please confirm the expected location of the interior front keyless entry antenna in a 2012 Focus?

I'm investigating the below returned DTC

Code: B10C9 - Interior Front Antenna

Additional Fault Symptom (:1F):
- Circuit Intermittent

Status (-6C):
- DTC Maturing - Intermittent at Time of Request
- Malfunction Indicator Lamp is Off for this DTC
- Test not complete

Module: Remote Function Actuator
Freeze Frame #1:
-EVENT_TIME: 397476473 s - Event time
-TOTAL_DISTANCE: 158612 km - Total Distance
-MODULE_VOLTAGE: 14.8 V - Control Module Voltage

I was expecting the antenna to be found towards the front of the car in front of the gearstick, in the area beneath the heating controls. I checked there earlier and couldn't see an antennae, but an empty space instead as shown below - should it be here?

I did notice a couple of loose cables hanging down in the above area, one of them, a red one shown below, looks like it might fit an antenna does anyone know if that's what it's intended for? I notice that while its the correct shape, it has 4 holes and I think the antenna only has 2 pins.

I've also read that the sensor maybe mounted behind the front bumper cover on the upper crash bar / reinforcement beam toward the passenger side, which doesn't seem to fit with the "interior front antenna" description of the fault, but is a place I've not yet checked.

I've never noticed any problems unlocking the car, or using the keyless start

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks in advance
