Fiesta Parking Sensors - Problem

Featured Replies

Hey guys wondered if someone can help i just bought a fiesta st line 19 plate and its not bleeping when i get close to a car read the handbook and says has parking sensors? But its not working

Rear sensors?

The handbook may say it has sensors but the handbooks are generic in many instances and cover all options that can be added to the car.

Are you sure it has them fitted as I think they were an optional extra when new.  Sensors or sensors + camera.

Can you see the sensors on the rear bumper (round circular objects)?

Yes, as Martin says. Sensors are now standard on ST-Lines, but back in 2019 they were a cost option. The handbook has to try to cover everything that could  be fitted to a model, so there'll be a lot of stuff in there that may not apply to your particular car.

I have a 2011 Titanium with sensors and 1 on the back all the paint came off it so i just painted it with a touch up pen, still works.

Are these just pull off and replace.

Hi all, I have a 2011 Fiesta 7 Econetic (1.6 diesel). I have the exact same problem as at the top of this thread, namely when I select reverse, I get a torrent of beeps. I think it is the same number of beeps, maybe a burst of ten followed by a burst of 20etc. The intermittent beeps die down a bit and I can hear that in amongst them, the sensors are working, warning me of approaching objects, but they are lost in the noise.

It happened after my brother in law fixed the reverse lights. I should take it back to him but it's complicated. I asked my local backstreet garage to have a look but they told me it would be £160 for a new sensor to test it, so I left it.

Today I have taken the carpet up and found the sensor module. I was hoping to find a loose wire or something but found nothing. I plugged and unplugged the tan and black connectors. When they were unplugged I got a cool siren noise. This went away when I plugged them back in.

However, a weird development is that if I put it into reverse with the engine off, and get out, the erratic beeping stops. I wondered if it was the electronics in the drivers seat but even if I press on the carpet behind the drivers seat it come on, and goes off when I remove my hand.

I couldn't see any bubbling but I scratched the pain off part of a sensor which looked slightly scratched. All four sensors work when I do a walk test.

This seems like the important part.  If it doesn't happen on the passenger side, then it sounds like a loom plug or wire issue under the carpet between GEM & PAM.

What was the 'fix' for the reverse lights?
