I for one am bored about hearing ST owners pressing their views on other Fiesta owners questioning why they didn't buy a ST & suggesting tuning a 1.0T isn't worth it I agree they are amazing cars

Just to let every one know this is a thread to talk about the 1.0L ECOBOOST! Not the ST, this thread is slowly becoming fords own loose women due to all the bitchiness going on with MattDRX just drop it and get back on topic or sod off

I know this may not be best place to post this but I have been speaking to AS about a group buy on this:

http://www.autospecialists.co.uk/Milltek-Fiesta-10-100ps-and-125ps-litre-eco-Boost-Cat-back-Product-1247.html

They have said if we can get 3 of us together, they will do it for £395 inc free fitting... anyone interested?

Do they do a quiet version?

They do... I'll see what price they would do the resonated version for

Oh and by the way, it is really good! All the issues i mentioned earlier in the topic have gone, no cutback, no lumpy power delivery coming off throttle.

With traction control off when flooring it in first gear in the dry i got a bit of wheelspin as the boost came in, but nothing major it just gripped after a second and raced to the redline, no loss of power at all. Perfect.

Confirmed. Totally agree. No issues on the last map, start/stop is working like a charm.

Tested the 0-60 on the ST just now, 6.4. The app seems to get ahead of itself as I didn't even hit 60. Will test again on the way home.

I didn't use any app, just a standard stopwatch timed by someone else rather then, all my times have been below 7.5 with good starts and shifts, bad starts and shift's I'm managing around the 8 second mark. I would do a video but I have nowhere to mount my phone where you can see the speedometer too.

Isn't the rev limiter in second about 62mph? Just do a video from zero to the rev limiter in second gear, won't need to see the Speedo.

Your ST mountuned Matt?

Rev limiter I thought was higher than 62, it's around 65 I think, if not a bit more.

speedo generally reads a few mph faster than if you gps'd it. 65mph on speedo is about 62 on my sat nav

Nope standard, I was actually expecting it to be higher than the 6.9 seconds, quite surprised by how far out it was tbh. was using 4G as well. will give it another go on the way home traffic permitting.

Correct, Speedos are about 3% out.

doesnt the app use gps rather than mobile internet?

No Idea, with that said it makes more sense to be incorrect, how many times do Tom Toms for instance go for a wander, carry on going when you've turned off.

Hand help GPS programmes are not accurate at all, Googlemaps is another one, can't even tell sometimes which way i'm facing or pin point where I am to within 10's of meters.

true, though when I tried it with mine standard it consistently showed 9.3-9.5. Ford quote 9.4.

You've managed faster than Ford's claim, which could mean that the faster you get to 60, the harder it is for the app to track you via gps and it becomes less accurate.

I dont think ford would have claimed a time for the ST that is higher than what it can do, it was already seen as the underdog power wise when it came out due to its rivals all having around 200bhp. That was until the critics drove it and realised it drives better than the rest.

Of course, I know it isn't doing that time, mate of mine has the Clio 200T which is a lot quicker, the ST cannot keep up with it, I might get him to test the app and see what his comes in at, be easy to work out a margin of error then, if he comes in .5 seconds under, we should in theory add that to the figures to make the official ones.

All kinds of things can affect the times -

the road may have a slight incline, up or down

even one-up, the driver may weigh 8 stone or 19 stone (makes a big difference on a small/ light car) the trim level/ extra weight in the car can make a difference (eg all the junk in the boot/ door pockets/ amd if a heavy sub is fitted/ affects traction too)

surface traction and temprature/ tyre make/ condition (or even pressures) can make a big difference, on the launch, after a bad launch you can never recover the time

technique is important, balancing clutch slip/ wheel spin, and a very quick change takes skill to time perfectly - you also have to be "hard" on the car to get a good time - a skilled driver can shave a few tenths off the time , everything else being equal

The cars (same model/ engine/ trim) are supposed to be exactly the same as they come off the production line, but sometimes some are better than others, also, the way they are run-in etc and driven (eg- the "learning" ecu) can affect the performance

The speedos used to be allowed to be 10% out - when a road test is done by a car magazine, or the manufacturer they measure the actual speed not the speed shown on the speedo thats often why the manufacturers claimed 0-62 seems slow

fuel quality may be a factor- high octane fuel can give you quicker results/ low quality fuel slower results

With all these variables - it is difficult to even get consistant results - you just have to get the conditions as consistent as possible - checking the bit of road is on the level, checking the speedo vs gps etc / verifying the timing method with a backup eg - stopwatch

Do they do a quiet version?

Spoken to them, they will do the resonated for an extra £100, so £495 fitted for the resonated

Thanks for looking into it Divszy. I'll keep look for a better deal.

No worries, if you do find a better deal, if you wouldn't mind, would you let me know...

Oh yeah of course, was going to say this to the guy who had his mate timing him, chuck him out, the 1.0 goes so much better with just one person driving.

Mazda for instance tested the RX8 times on a downhill slope in sterile conditions, making the specs a lot better than they ever were.

Manufactuers even put the car on slicks, tape up the grills, remove the mirrors and disconnect the alternator all in the same of boosting performance and testing figures.

iirc for 0-60 times you need your tyres nice and flat ( almost ) flabby tyres and much harder to spin, saw the results years ago with a R5 GTT @ 330BHP, they found dropping the pressure to around 15 PSI they never spun and produced much better times.

Thats not a bad deal tbh, Demons are around £550 last I checked, but I'd say wait for Piper to make one, Milltek aren't that great from experience, Piper are better quality all round, a lot of Clio owners had issues with Milltek welds failing and poor fitment, Piper are also generally cheaper.

Scorpion despite bad opinion aren't bad and will no doubt be the cheapest once they bring one out.
