Hi guys, just joined the madhouse, as Im restoring and upgrading my escort 55 van, poss to rs2000 spec, maybe cosworth (If I can find a YB)

Names Kev, im in Crewe, Cheshire. Been a pro mechanic for 20 years now. Worked with some amateur rally teams, I used to race bikes myself, hence username.

Basically im just lookin for info, and tips n tricks. And maybe become a Ford buff, to go along with my already bike and evo geekdom

Welcome to the club Kev you should start your own thread in the project and Builds section ane keep us updated in your progress! :)

I will start a thread tomorrow probably aye. Already doing one on another forum I frequent, so could just drag that over.

Basically im not gonna go daft with it unless I can find a YB, then if I do ill be cuttin the top off my van and welding it on a sierra floorpan (4wd baby), But If im honest looks like itll end up being a BGA RS 2000 lump in it or could even use the 2300 BGA out of the Galaxy (same engine ish).

I really want a 6speed box in there but not sure what will fit, Dont think a mk4 mondeo one will fit to the mounts or engine and the linkages are all diff too

How about the mk1 focus RS 6 speed box? Will be easier to get the RS 2000 lump theres still plenty of them kicking about. Will be interested in your progress :)

Now thats the kinda info I need!! Wasnt aware the RS was a 6 speed. But isnt the LSD computer controlled?? Or is that just the traction control?

Not sure mate Idve thought just the traction control you'd need to find out

Cheers bud! Ill have to look. I know the RS had a fancy traction control/diff system. But as to how it worked I have no idea LOL.

Im defo gonna get the BGA RS2000 engine, Plenty about, Silvertop Zetecs are gettin thin on the ground. And Blacktops arent much use for getting big power out of.

Ill start the build thread later. Not had the energy or inclination ill now cos of mauling the engine out of the van on me own

By the way im not overly mechanically minded so double check things I suggest lol stick a Boiler in front of me and I'll strip it to bits but I've only realy started getting into cars since I got my fiesta 3 years ago :) getting there slowly Haha
