Where Do You Put Your Ipod?

Featured Replies

I have been playing around with where to place an iPod in my car that is tucked away so I can use it from my driving controls, my latest position is in the cubby hole by the bonnet handle. and have traced the wires around the interior to the USB ports

It needs some tidying up etc (plus the car needs cleaning) I dont want to put it all in until I am 100% happy with is position.

Where do you guys put yours?

Got a brodit for mine

Brodit iPhone holder

Wired to USB port

How can you use your driving controls to skip songs on your iPod mine doesnt work :( norther does 2 other fiesta owners i work with :/

My iphone is hard wired via USB and all the steering controls work fine.

Ooo were using AUX, can you change the aux port to a USB one?? Will this work with the steering wheel?

Mines in the map pocket back of passenger seat. Full control through steering wheel.

Sorry don't know about that, maybe because mine is a newer model. Doesn't yours have a USB? I have read on here somewhere that there is a hidden one behind the glove box.

I use the usb, I have a long Y lead connected and have fed that through and around the footwell, the steering wheel controls work perfectly with it, just trying to work out the best place to put the iPod without it being seen from the outside, but easily accessible for when i want to update tunes.

I used to just put it under the passenger seat. I now keep it in the cubby box :P

is that the one on the centre console?

Trick question - I don't have an iPod :p

No all i have in aux port, mind you my model

Is only style + 59 plate anyone help?

i have seen a couple of threads about some having usb's in glove box, but not all do unfortunately

In the modification forum there's a thread called Retro-Fit Usb.....It Works!! which has all the details. Will cost you a lot in parts (£200-£300) and the car needs to be reprogrammed using specialist kit.

Not really worth it for that much but thanks :)

If all you want to do is hide your iPod away why not just open the not so secret compartment under the stereo run the USB up into that and hey presto no iPod in sight or wires to run round your footwell not sure if USB is permanently live so don't know if you could leave it there

Ahhh Sambooka you beat me too it, was just going to suggest exactly the same thing. And regarding the USB port,,,,, some of the titanium models didn't even come with them fitted as standard, so I guess its hit and miss. I however think they are FANTASTIC. I don't use anything I'poddy, but also HATE HATE HATE having to have a million CD's clogging up my glove box, when I can just use a tiny weeny memory stick and have all the music I will ever need on it :) , I'd have bought my car just because of this lol. Loving my switch from focus titanium to fiesta titanium loads at the minute. Hope it continues :D

Also thinking about it providing your software is up to date you don't need one of fords extorsionate y cables as it will work perfectly just using the USB 1 cable less to hide aswell

Yeah, the facelift's have a centre console storage Zetec S and above.

I lift the gear surround up, tuck my pod and cables to the left of the shifter, close the hatch and hey presto! Nae cables to be seen! And more importantly- NO ONE CAN CHANGE THE SONG!! The good thing about the USB controls is none of these vauxhall drivers can figure it out !!

Vauxhall owners are still trying to figure out the combustion engine and how their car moves without a horse pulling it :p

They figured out the wheel? World is doomed now...

I put a phone holder in my glovebox to hold my i phone, & have run the cable to the USB around the centre consul as mentioned above.

I have played around and I am going to put it in the glovebox it fits nicest in there and the wires seem to fit tidier that way around also

I use my iPhone with aux.. And it nearly always ends up in the centre cup holders lol

When I finally return to the uk I'm gonna pull one of these appart and wire it into the steering wheel controls.

If it works it'll finally give us non-USBers steering wheel control of the iPod without the costly bt&usb upgrade!
