New Fiesta Range - Red & Black Editions

Featured Replies

Fan of the engine, not of the styling.

Would rather tune a ZS.

Initially I liked these new ones, but now I'm thinking the same for when I buy later this year.

I'd happily have 125 and if I ever get bored just get it mapped up in exchange for being able to pick colour etc.

Not like the ZS is slow anyway!

  • Here you go, you all owe me £2.50 :)

  • Finally arrived yesterday, not driven it much but so far very happy. Looks good inside & out, not sure what the person who said the seats looks tatty & cheap was on about. Must be very fussy

  • Back at Wiscombe Park hillclimb today. A bit outclassed by modified competition, and just 0.05 of my PB.. but still great fun to drive.

Can anyone confirm whether the suspension / steering in the Black & Red is any different from the standard Zetec S? Just trying to weigh up whether the new car is worth the extra..

Think its the same as the Zetec S think it just comes with more standard equipment from the options list but it has a specially tuned engine which is more powerful than the standard Zetec S has 140HP

major components are likely to be the same but it may have slightly stiffer/lower springs. But doubt it'll have any custom wishbones/rack as it wouldn't be cost affective for ford. I read, however, that it does have tweaked steering. This will be calibration tweaks to the electric steering.

I also heard something about the steering being changed slightly, not sure about the suspension. None of this is mentioned in the brochure though - I think Ford would probably mention tweaked steering if they did that, because it makes it sound better.

Just bear in mind that the ST can be had for not much more, so if you can put up with the harder ride, and more expensive insurance and running costs that's the car to get. Just be sure to test drive both before you make up your mind ;)

Yes, the ST would be the obvious choice, but I do too many miles... at 20k a year.

I agree that if the suspension / steering was actually different to the Zetec S, Ford would actually shout about it in the brochure... and they don't..

Great review of the Red Edition in Autocar today.. and I've ordered one..

Nice one, I'm sure you'll love it :). You made the right choice, the red one looks better than the black. How long do you have to wait?

Is the review in the magazine or is it online?

It's in the mag, and up against the Mini Cooper and Ibiza FR.

I've ordered a couple of options (DAB and climate) so expecting a bit of a wait, but the Panda 100HP will cope in the mean time. Will be a much missed car.

A guy i know has the second off the production line according to the data tag so he's happy he ordered it as soon as it was released think he got it on the ford pcp thing tho

Also how fast is the 1litre 140ps ??

Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC mobile app

Officially the 0-60 is 9 seconds, but I've not seen a review that believes that. With the weight and power, it should be towards the mid 8s. More importantly it should be quick enough through the gears.

Mountune claim the 0-60 on the MP135 is 8.5s

I'd love to drive one just to see what the little 1.0L engine can do :)

The top speed is 125mph and 0-60 in 9 secs, but people seem to think it's quicker than that. It says in the brochure it has overboost, so I wonder if that works like the ST, maybe it has more than 140PS :)

It gets a decent review in top gear magazine.. Starting to count the weeks!

Gave the Red Edition a drive this weekend, looks the business. Drive isnt too different from 1.0 100ps though, only difference would be a faster 3rd gear, from what i could tell. I was putting my foot down when the roads would let me (also remaining to the speed limit  )

Mine has the overboost too (1.0 Ecoboost 125ps) and id rather just get mine to mountune rather than spending all that money on the this yeah they look good but i dont really buy new cars (just my opinion) unless a got a amazing deal

i got my car for £9,750 13plate titanium add mountune is roughly £600 odd (thats induction kit and mp135) then if i wanted to have the body kit n all that cost around 1.5-2k so in total you will have a faster car with free tax and body kit for £12,350 for a car thats not much faster but 0-60 in 8.5s plus no tax

but aswell as that you can get a zetec s for £11k (slightly used) and add mountune for £600 n there you go lol

Yes, that's nearly what I did, but as you can get a new Red Edition for £12.5k I thought that spending the extra £900 was worth it for a new car. Plus I could specify a couple of options.

Yeah that's the thing with new cars if ye get a good deal go for it :)
