I have narrowed my problem down to flash code 16 ... can communications error can anyone tell me my next step ???

    Error code 16 means there is a communications fault between the PCM and the PATS system.

    I am just reading your posts now. So just getting the info now.

    Reason I ask is I have just caused the same symptoms on my diesel. Well the engine ssystem fault came up on its own. But in the process of checking the mane harness connector in the fuse box by the battery it caused my immobliser system to give error code 16, after removing the connector and checking all the fuses removing them one by one and then reseating the connector the immobiliser issue has now gone, so it is worth checking the C90 connector in that dude box. If that does solve the immobilser issue you might find the engine fault is something else. You would then need to get it on some diagnostics kit preferably Ford IDS.
