  • I was with Kwik Fit for years, the prices just kept creeping up, it really doesn't pay to just auto renew! At 54 with 9 years no claims and no points, they had the absolute cheek to ask for £1000 a

My last renewal was just over £400 fully comp. with Aviva. My insurance always seems to hover around that amount even though I haven't put in a claim for a few years.

After getting my ST mountuned I had to insure it as modified because Esure don't recognise the upgrade as many others do, and it worked out at about £540 ish for a year although I only have about 6 months left on it. I've seen quotes below £500 though :)

How long have you been driveing phill and what no clams do you have?

I've been driving about 9 years, 26 with no claims. I guess the postcode makes a difference too.

£500 ish (-£25 cashback, but the £500 was the same on other comparison sites too)

Mk2.5 Focus Zetec on a 60 plate with a 1.8 petrol engine.

2 years NCB, 1 at fault claim (oops), 26yo, license held for 5 years 11 months, 2 weeks and 1 day* (at time of renewal lol) Dad on the policy (shaved about £15 off).

*Last year, Admiral put that down as 5 years as opposed to 4 (and 11 months, 2 weeks and a day). This year, Octagon didn't care that I was only 13 days short of 6 years, so it's down as 5 years again. If I'd been at sea, I might of arranged for it to be off the road for 2 weeks & SORN it before restarting on the anniversary of my license date lol

£918 2nd year driving, 1 years no claim

My insurance was 600 on a 2008 1.8 focus titanium. I'm 29 been driving five years just got my fourth year no claims but my current insurance company (first central) who I have been with for two years and my renewal came in at 2500 with no explanation they could give me for this huge increase. So today I'm looking for new insurance. Octagon quoted 432 but I'm not sure on them.

If in doubt, have a look at defaqto. (Edit: Octagon standard and extra car insurance is rated 3-star & economy is 2-star)

I'm going with the hope that they can't be any worse than Quotemehappy. Who, whilst excellent when dealing with an accident have an awful customer service team!

I got my insurance sorted today. Got a quote with Adrian flux for £460. I tried ford insure but they quoted me 1800 and something.

I see age is a large factor still,,, ok you get the boy racer age but when your 25+ its still a factor looking at some of the posts i see on the internet.
mine this year is £320 for the wife and myself full comp with 8 yrs nc on a 2012 1.6tdci focus titanium.

My motorbike is £82.

im 49 the wife is 42.

My motorbike is £82.

I'm surprised how low that is. That suggests that it's the risk of causing injury or death to someone else, rather than yourself that increases the price more.

Hi,

If anyone needs any help with insurance at all please feel free to drop me a line.

Regards,

Dan.

I'm 21, 4 years driving, 3 years NCB from Aylesbury and insurance was just over £500 for the year! thought that was pretty reasonable!

That's really good, I'm 26 with 9 years driving and 4 years no claims, I just looked at some quotes and the lowest is around £540 with total excess of £150 and protected no claims. Adding my dad reduces the premium by about £20 lol, I think I missed a trick there.

Edit: and adding my mum reduces it by a further £65 lol. Thats and £83 reduction for adding my parents, that's mental. And adding my brother who is just 3 years younger than me and has no claims, adds £160 :(

Another edit: and also the insurance companies finally recognise that there is such a thing as an ST3 with the mountune upgrade. Took them long enough.

Just got my renewal through from esure at £168 before any extras £228 with everything added on. That's with 4 years ncd but me being 55 is a bit of a winner.

Never thought being old would be this good haha.

Managed to get NCD protection included in the price as well.

I might be able to get a reduction for having a dashcam next time. I don't know how many insurers give a reduction but I know Swiftcover do.

I wonder how it works though, if you say you have a dashcam do you have to provide footage of any accident otherwise they won't pay out? It can't be that harsh though, maybe they would just make you pay a higher excess if you don't have the footage.

My total premium is around £950 with aviva for my ST (23 with 2 years NCB). Cheapest quote was £600 with admiral but would have meant cancelling aviva policy (£80) plus buying gap insurance and then losing about 5 months towards my 3rd year NCB. Was cheaper at the time to just pay off the rest of the aviva policy (£650). Plus aviva is just a much better company and offer new car replacement which removes the need for gap insurance.

Mine was renewed last month on a mk2.5 focus titanium 1.6 with all mods declared ( st225 alloys, ZS front & rear skirts/diffuser, st spoiler , st lights, Drls etc) last year £595,

This year £510 . So happy . Btw i'm 48 & car is garaged.

Yunii

I just got a quote on potentially my next car, a 2010 WRX STi for £890 and I'm 23 (will be 24) with 6 years NCD. Winner :P

That is an f'ing good price!

I've been driving since January 2013, (passed test then), been a learner since August 2012.

I did want a Zetec S, I have two years no claims, although admiral have allegedly proved I have 3 years NCD/NCB (They factor in time spent as a learner apparently).

I would have gone for a Zetec S, but even with 3 years NCD and a Pass Plus qualification I was still being quoted £1,000-£1,300...

Ended up going for a 1.4 TDCi 2011 reg Fiesta and even that's costing me £695 for a year's Comprehensive cover, although that does include legal assistance, windscreen cover, personal injury cover up to £10,000 and some other gubbins.

How you managed to get that quote I'll never know!

Interesting you say that about Aviva...

May have to give them ago as I didn't take the GAP ins out in time, do you have to have a policy with them before you purchase a car or any other stipulations?

My policy is due for renewal any week now and I'm itching to save me some £££££ :')

As long as the insured car is less than one year old it is covered for new car replacement.

Also go through Quidco. Currently £50 cashback for new aviva policies. Have to wait a little bit but a nice little bonus in a month or so time.

Let me know if you want me to invite you to join quidco (i get a little bonus for you signing up :D)
