Has anyone done any mods, remapping, etc to improve the power of the 1.0 Ecoboost 125? Had a look at the Super Chips remap to increase the horse power by 31bhp. Some reports say that the increased power isn't really noticable?

I got mine 1.0 mapped to around 150 bhp and can tell a big different

I know my insurance company won't cover me if I get a remap. Do any insurance companies provide this? Specialists?

They is no way of knowing your car has had a remap

Yes there is im afraid the cars ecu will store the last info ford can easily tell if you have went outwith the original parameters ie the original map seen it done insurance can also tell by simply checking it also invalidates youre warranty unless its a pumaspeed ford approved mods

Lots of companies will cover remaps.

Though over 25% remaps usually come with much bigger premiums. Keep below that (150bhp on a 125 is 20%) and it shouldn't cost too much extra. :)

As above, it's easy to see if it's been mapped by scanning the ECU...suppose you're alright as long as you don't crash. :P I never have or would risk it personally.

Was in fords having my service done young lass was in with her fiesta complaining of an engine rattle the woman told her it wont be repaired under warranty as the cars been remapped the lass thought she could blag that it wasnt till they came over with 2 printouts one showed the ford map the other was the new map

Iv had few problems at ford im running 165bhp with a few mods and I just took the map off and they fixed my problem with no questions even though it does not look original... pumaspeed do a maxd out box for remaps so u can pick what map is on your car

I take it you've got the 1.6?

No 1.0 the 1.6 can be running at 300bhp but I love my little 1.0L

1.0 running at 174bhp!!!! It's unbelievable. I'm so tempted

Maxd out box im going on a rolling road next sat for further fine tunning iv not had a printout yet so around 160bhp / 165bhp now let u know how it gies sat get a print out its quick enough

Its cool if you dont keep the cars long but that power out of a 1.0 where theres concerns on the longevity of the engine is mad

Put it this way ford are producing a reliable 150bhp version in there words it needs to be redeveloped to run on the road reliably so taking the engine to the extents above will likely destroy the engine fords using the turbo from a 1.6 and other mods to achieve this but they dont know how much it can safely handle

Amazing the power you can pull from a 1.0 Petrol these days!

Makes you wonder though increased wear turbo wear etc how much is too much if you want the car to last and remain reliable

Oh yeah, very true....but I cant really comment on reliability.

I bought a Golf 130 TDi a few years ago...modified it up to 180bhp...popped the turbo. Fitted a bigger turbo...broke the DMF. On the way to buy a new DMF a hydraulic lifter smashed due to the chocolate camshaft.

At that point I gave up haha.

I guess its alright if you only plan on keeping the car for say 3 years, not ideal for the next owner though!

Depends where you get it done if you get it by good people it not just getting more power Also better on fuel why you think the police remap there cars if it's done right not just some ebay turning box you won't have any problem
