Clarkson In Trouble Again - RIP Top Gear

There will no doubt be a boost to viewing figures on the first episode aired now.

Yeah, if this does all blow over then the controversy can do nothing but good for the show. They should settle it on the track, and whoever loses gets fired so the show can go on :)

  • I'll not be watching TG now, regardless of who they attempt to host it with. The only exception will be, if they decide to air the recorded content which the three of them have already done.

  • Clarkson owns 30% of the Top Gear brand so if he goes then the show does too. About the only thing worth watching on the whole BBC line-up.

I feel sorry for the Stig.

They'll have a hard job preparing him for release back into the wild. :d

A Sheikh has offered him a home at an undisclosed UAE race track. He will be well looked after and have a variety of fast cars to play with.

(The above is quite possibly, maybe definitely made up BS lol)

Im just reading the HSE report on the Hammond crash of 2006.... (I came across a link, then I decided to open it up, and then searched for the report out of curiosity!)

Hammond, May and Clarko are all self employed! they are contracted by the BBC :|

The other thing it mentions is that "back in the day" they would have two seasons per year, with 8 - 10 episodes a season... we really are being short changed these days!

Im still reading the report, for some reason I am finding it intriguing!

I think that report publicly named ex-Stig Ben Collins as their 'performance driver', or something similar,

Somebody on another forum at the time ruined the Stig mystery for me by posting it lol.

It's funny that the Beeb have pulled Top Gear from the line-up but showed an episode from a previous season on BBC 3 earlier this evening.

Go figure.

haha, Yeah I think I saw his name briefly mentioned...

Read the whole thing and it showed a good level of failure on both parties involved...

As for the beeb showing old series... well, goes to show a knee jerk reaction pull the new series and forget the rest...

Wow, it'll be over a million before long :)

Going great guns how annoying though if this turns out to be a publicity stunt... All I can say is the boy who cried Wolf.

I agree there is that element of "watching your own funeral" aspect

However i cant prevent myself from canvassing

Looks like Top Gear is dead:

http://transmission.blogs.topgear.com/2015/03/25/bbc-releases-statement-on-clarkson/

I have already cancelled my TG mag subscription and ordered Evo instead, lol.

I can understand BBC felt they had to do the right thing, but you would think they could have come up with some sort of punishment that didn't involve letting him go.

I hope Hammond and May stand by what has been said and do not renew with BBC, following Clarkson out of the show. Then hopefully one of the FTA channels will pick them up (not Sky!) and we can get back to watching what they do best.

Sad news, but hopefully there's nothing stopping the three of them from starting a new show on another channel with a different name. Or the producers of Fifth Gear (if that's still going) should replace their presenters with Clarkson, Hammond and May, change its name to 6th Gear and make it into Top Gear MK2 :D

In the end I think the BBC probably made the right decision, and I think this sentence sums it up quite well: "There cannot be one rule for one and one rule for another dictated by either rank, or public relations and commercial considerations".

Violence in one's workplace should never be tolerated.

hmmm seems james mays twitter has changed to this
"Former TV presenter only remembered for saying 'Oh !Removed!'. Or was that the other bloke?" James May

Shame though, I think all three are walking away?

And Richard's latest tweet:

"Gutted at such a sad end to an era. We're all three of us idiots in our different ways but it's been an incredible ride together."

And now the BBC see their audience drop...

I'll not be watching TG now, regardless of who they attempt to host it with.

who says these guys wont make there own show on itv or chanel 4 ;)

ITV or C4...urgh adverts!! I barely watch anything other than BBC, such a shame TG won't be on there anymore, not as we know it anyway. Looks like Chris Evans will be the new host but he's a bit boring compared to Clarkson imo.

I fully agree that Clarkson should be punished for violence (especially when he's much better at smart wit and sarcasm!) but I don't think sacking him was the best idea. Especially considering how many viewers TG pulled in each week.

Don't see why they couldn't have got him to go on anger management course, forfeit some wages to charity then got the producer involved to do some sort of prank to him as come back.

I don't condone what he did, just don't feel like sacking him was the best course of action.

I saw a clip on YouTube of James may and he said we come as a package and how top gear will continue but didn't actually say he's walking away but I certainly got that impression.
