Rear Shocks Advice Wanted

Featured Replies

I've got a leak on one of my rear shocks and bought some replacements ( KYB's.

Having never replaced shock absorbers before my question for anyone with an answer is that the main body of the new shocks are about 10cm shorter than the stock shock absorber. The overall length is long enough but the part that houses the gas is shorter. Does this matter and what will it go to the ride comfort if anything?

Bump. Gotta be at least one mechanic on here.

Personally, I can swing a hammer but doesn't mean I know what I'm doing.

Personally I would be returning them and getting something else.

Where did you get them from?

ECP are selling Sachs (OEM) for the same price as KYB.

Local motor factors. £90 for pair when the Sachs are closer to £80 each when I was looking

Have you got a Euro car parts nearby? £52 each for Sachs. I have never used KYB shocks so can't comment on brand as far as they are concerned but I really would be wanting shocks that match the original equipment.

I'm wondering if they have accidentally gave me one that match the uprated shocks for the sport pack suspension. Sports pack is 30mm lower if I'm remembering right. When I bought them, ecp had then closer to £80. At 52 quid i would rather go OEM. SO Sachs are the oem?

Quite possibly, it may be a mistake on their part.

What to do with ECP though is reserve it online for collection - cheaper than going in and asking over the counter.

Yes Sachs are OEM. In my opinion it's worth that little bit extra for them.

Ah I see what I've done here! My stupid mistake! For whatever reason I thought it was a mk3..

That price will be right then for your car. My bad :(

 happens. Damn, thought 50 notes for Sachs was cheap.

Spoken to local factors and they'll accept the return even after I've tried em so gonna fit them and see how they feel and look.
