Help With Transmission Identification

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm looking at buying a 2001 Mondeo mk3 2.0l Petrol Lx Automatic.

It's done just over 80k and is going cheap because the body work needs some tlc. I've done some reading to make sure the automatic transmission isn't a total pig as I know there are a few rogue models out there...

Apparently it's got the 4 speed box which I believe is the CD4E transmission... From what I've read they don't have the best track record.

Can anyone advise me on these transmissions and whether or not its worth a punt? Bare in mind the car is only £500 so even if it only lasts me a year I'm not overly bothered :P

Cheers all

Jake
