Strange Problem

Featured Replies

I have had my 2011 mondeo now for a couple of months and everything is ok except for one problem.

Whenever I have been driving above say, 50mph for a few miles and using 6th gear, when I then slow down to 30mph there is loss of power. When I then stand at traffic lights, I can hear the engine and it sounds somewhat blowy like the exhaust has a hole in it somewhere. Also while stationary, there is also a soft/dull ticking noise that sounds like it's coming from the engine bay.

All these carry on for around 5 miles then it just all corrects itself until next time I use 6th gear and drive at speed.

Another thing that used to happen (I have not seen it for a few weeks now) is that I would get a random message on my dash saying 'Engine Malfunction' even though I experience no problems, no loss of power, nothing. The error message goes after i have stopped the engine and start it again. The two problems may be linked, i don't know.

I have had the car into the stealers a few times but they cannot find any error codes stored in the memory nor can they see any visual problems with my turbo or DPF.

Do any of you guys know what the problem could be? (Not so bothered about the error message)
